I have a growing awareness of just how valued it is on the global scene (in an Australian stroke research context was already familiar with how valued it is). It's critically important for shaping research; I got to see a research trial in action in a stroke patient yesterday with great results 💙

Very generous, thanks so much! 😁
I wear both hats as a stroke survivor and now stroke researcher and it does get a bit overwhelming in both good and not so good ways sometimes.

New #EsoBlog: Brain health is a determinant of stroke risk and long-term neurological outcomes.

Regular physical exercise can attenuate neurodegeneration. Adequate sleep is equally important.

? Do you know the symptoms of atrial fibrillation?

AF is a type of irregular heartbeat that can increase your risk of stroke and other serious complications if left untreated.

If you notice any symptoms, don’t ignore them—speak to your GP.

1st time for 2026 volunteering at the rehab facility & it was a powerful reminder of why I volunteer, talking with patients about the challenges of life after #stroke but also celebrating the wins, whether it was the hearing how they spent Xmas with their families or seeing them walking again.

HIGHLIGHTS
• Photothrombotic stroke leaves rose bengal fluorescence in the cortical lesion.
• Fluorescence stays visible for weeks through the skull with low-cost imaging.
• This method enables precise lesion extent in vivo under anesthesia.

Exploring the use of mixed reality in my Meta Quest headset for anomia. YouTube video by Across the Cloud

With a few bug fixes and quite a bit of customisation work, I got some software to run in my Meta Quest 3 VR head set, to explore the potential of mixed reality software for anomia, or word finding difficulties, common after stroke. www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9Va...
