Watching figure skating at the Olympics has really made me determined to find more hobbies that don't make me so emotionally invested in other people's successes and disappointments.

A snow day means I get to work from home and watch US Figure Skating Championships.

Okay, done whining. Happy 2025.

And when am I going to learn about this friend? She literally asked me for something the day before. But every time I feel like we're getting closer again she very clearly choses someone else over me. Why did you talk to me about going out for New Year's if you weren't going to include me?

Started the day with the news about New Orleans and then found out the friend I spoke to about going out for New Year's ended up going out without inviting me. Obviously not the same level of tragedy or anything, but not feeling 2025's vibes so far.

My current goal for 2025 is to let go of my Kindle reading streak and be okay picking up real books again.

I think I cursed them.

Today I laughed so hard I cried because I thought my grandma asked my dad if he ever shot a horse at lunch. It took twenty minutes for me to discover she said shod. Shod a horse.

I'm predicting Joey will win, with Ilona and Chandler in at 2 and 3, Stephen 4 and Danny 5. I think Joey probably has the best combination of scores/votes. Stephen winning would surprise me but make me happy. Danny winning would be the only outcome I'd find a little disappointing.

My most read genre this year was romance, followed by mystery then fantasy. Science fiction was my least read genre.
