[6/7] Phasing means we don’t have to wait for an “all-or-nothing” moment. We can build a safer, more efficient, and more prosperous Utah one smart step at a time. 🏔️💪
[5/7] Phase 3: Complete City Connection 🏙️ The final piece of the puzzle: reconnecting North Temple and the Power District, realigning transit for a future-proof city, and expanding Amtrak capacity.
[4/7] Phase 2: Direct Inland Port Route 🚛
Upgrading the route between Roper and Inland Port yards closes 7 more crossings and unlocks 115+ acres for redevelopment, including nearly 6,000 new housing units.
[3/7] Phase 1: The 500 West Train Box 🚄
Moving tracks into a “train box” on 500W means a new central station, a 30-foot linear park, and a $10B economic impact. Most importantly? It mitigates 90% of fatal crashes at these crossings.
[2/7] The Rio Grande Plan’s Phased Approach gives Utah the flexibility to realize massive benefits, cheaper and sooner. By breaking the plan into manageable steps, we can adapt to funding as it becomes available while hitting our most critical goals first.
[1/7] Big projects don’t have to happen all at once to make a big difference. 🛠️✨
While we hope that a line item veto could happen on this transfer, the important thing is that the depot is being preserved.
