She pulls him close for a kiss, which he returns just as eagerly.

Estinien looks down at her, his eyes softening and his voice dropping low. "I had to wait for the others to return to their rooms. You are annoyingly popular... but worth the wait."

Kalila looks up at him, making no effort to hide the affection she feels. "Mayhap a little less time than we'd like, but... you are here now. Let us make the most of it."

An unknown amount of time later, Estinien presses Kalila against the wall. Her legs are wrapped around his waist as he holds her up. Both of them are topless, his burn scars and battle scars visible on his right arm. They are kissing deeply and passionately - it is implied that this is the first time they have been this intimate.

Kalila is standing in her cabin in Tuliyollal, in training gear and practicing some moves. A familar voice speaks from the balcony. "Ah, it has been quite some time since I watched you train."

Estinien sits on the steps, his hair pulled back into a ponytail and wearing semi-casual clothes. "Still as impressive as ever. Your discipline rivals even mine."

Kalila turns to him, stretching an arm across her chest. "Estinien. I'd forgotten that as a dragoon, you have no need for doors..."

He stands, crossing the room to her and pulling her into his arms. She hugs him back, burying her face in his shoulder as she speaks. "I've missed you. More than you know."

She stares at him, her eyes softening. A warmth enters her voice. "The two of us have taken leave of our senses, but... right now, I don't care. Come here."

He moves over, tucking her into his side. A hand moves to trace the curve of her jaw, fingers threading into her hair as she tilts her face up to his. The kiss is soft, and yet explosive - seven years of unspoken longing finally finding an outlet.

She keeps her eyes closed, afraid to say the words while looking at him. "I have harboured thoughts that are much less than appropriate. 'Tis not something I have experienced before, and it... causes me some trepidation."

Estinien watches her face, his voice gruff as he responds. "Do you believe it easier for me? I have lived my life as a lone wolf. I have never needed anything from anyone, let alone wanted anything..."

He closes his eyes, his voice lowering another octave. "...until you returned from Ultima Thule, bloodied and broken, and I... I could no longer deny the truth of it."

His eyes open slowly, finding hers in the firelight. "I want you, Kalila. You saw straight through the mask I wear - a rare thing indeed. You fascinate me... and Gods, you're beautiful."

Kalila hesitates, not sure how to proceed. "...In full truth, neither was I."

Estinien drops his hands into his lap, his eyes searching hers. "You've been avoiding me since before we defeated Zeromus. Why?"

Kalila sighs, lowering her head and closing her eyes. Her voice is quiet when she finally speaks. "I... have not looked at you in the same way since we interrupted your workout in Radz-at-Han. It made me see that you aren't just a comrade... but a man. An attractive man."

She looks up to see Estinien standing nearby, attired much more suitably for the climate in leather trousers, boots, and a shirt. "I suppose Alphinaud told you where to find me?"

Estinien's expression is calm and unreadable as he regards her. "He did. May I join you?"

Her tone remains even as she answers him. "I did promise you that we could talk. I don't like breaking my word. Sit down."
