Spent Saturday with President Obama and New York's Cutest — turns out my first name is Mayor and I need to be doing more squats.
Here’s to building a City where families can thrive and every classroom is full of this much joy.

I don't understand why there are no consequences for the university boards that violated their fiduciary responsibilities by paying massive bribes to the Trump administration while their institutions had to starve and slash core educational and student services.

I wish every single person in my life who has pushed vaccine “skepticism” would read this.

100% to all of this.
👏 Canada 👏 Post 👏 is 👏 a 👏 public 👏 service 👏
Nothing proves how capitalism has brain rotted everyone than thinking the post office, hospitals, public transit, libraries, etc. need to turn a profit to be worthwhile.
SELF consistently put out some of the best articles on migraine. This is a big loss for that type of exposure and sharing information.
A clip from The New York Times reads: "But only the entities that officially paid the tariffs are eligible to recover that money. That means that the fuller universe of people affected by Mr. Trump’s policies — including millions of Americans who paid higher prices for the products they bought — are not able to apply for direct relief. The extent to which consumers realize any gain hinges on whether businesses share the proceeds, something that few have publicly committed to do. Some have started to band together in class-action lawsuits in the hopes of receiving a payout."
The average American family paid $1,700 in tariffs last year, according to the bipartisan Congressional Joint Economic Committee. Few will ever see any of that money back. The refunds will go to companies, if doled out at all. What a joke.
The Trump administration is considering a bailout for the United Arab Emirates over economic losses sustained as a result of the U.S. war with Iran. President Trump and his family also happen to have extensive business ties with the UAE. trib.al/CpCz4Oc
This statement gave me pause yesterday, and it likely isn't fully understood by the majority of #Canada in what it means in terms of scope. PM Mark Carney didn't single out one aspect, or focus on a few issues. He said that the entire relationship is a weakness. Think about what that means. #cdnpoli
This piece is incredibly important. Read the whole thing.

When you use AI to do your writing, you are telling your audience: “I deserve your attention, but you do not deserve my effort.”
Basket of picked green beans in the middle of the field for workers are harvesting
"Adan" shared this photo from the Coachella CA where hes picking green beans. "I get paid 40 cents per pound. The work is exhausting - especially due to the excessive heat in the area. But this is how I support my family." #WeFeedYou
"Pancreatic cancer mRNA vaccine shows lasting results in an early trial: Scientists caution that more research is needed, but nearly all of the patients who responded to the personalized vaccine are still alive six years later."
This obsession that some researchers seem to have with academic productivity is slowly eroding my faith in the academic enterprise.
“I want AI to do the grunt work so I have more time to think and write.”
News flash: you won’t.
The grunt work is part and parcel of the research process.
Students "deserve curricula that recognize the full scope of their humanity, outside of their roles as consumers and users of technology, and they deserve an education that allows them to explore the myriad ways their lives and choices are connected to others"
Right now where you live healthcare for trans kids is either being made literally illegal by your state or made functionally illegal by the unlawful threats of the federal government and a care infrastructure glad to sacrifice trans kids on the altar of appeasement.

If you watch and share one thing today make at this. Why is every democrat in the country not talking like this?
The state of British academia: my partner was made redundant from one uni after 14 (14)yrs on fixed-term contracts, & has now begun a short-term fixed contract at another that is threatening to put all (all) its academic staff at risk of redundancy in a “fire & rehire” www.ucu.org.uk/article/1445...
Two hooded figures with lamps approach a moonlit, isolated cottage. A woman answers the door. We have come for the child, says the hooded figure So soon? she asks It is time, says the hooded figure. The woman is distraught. We should never have got him a library card! What is done cannot be undone, says the hooded figure We couldn’t see the harm! We just wanted him to enjoy reading! For most, it ends there, says the hooded figure, turning away and walking into the wilderness Oh lord, What have I done! says the woman, the child walks past her and out into the darkness with them. Do not cry mother. I am a writer now.

I feel like "anti rich current reaches crescendo" is when the guillotine operators are getting OT not when you find a way to levy a new small tax on an undertaxed upper class
At our event at the library today, I passed out information about the fact that the Mayor's preliminary budget cuts our public library budget. Only 2 people were aware of this. Everyone was appalled. We need to increase public education about this fact. Folks promised to contact their council member
