Maker spaces went out of business all over the place, but a few still exist, and their denizens absolutely identify with the term. And many more crafters are doing more or less the same thing without the label. I don’t place a lot of value in identity generally though. You are what you do, imho.

Problem is, is the temporary enervation just what it feels like to learn? To get the new facts under your skin? I worry that it feels easier because it is simply absorbed less. It’s the quicker, more surface level answer, rather than the deep understanding. But maybe that’s the goal at times?
