Congratulations, Virginia! Republicans are trying to tilt the midterm elections in their favor, but they haven’t done it yet. Thanks for showing us what it looks like to stand up for our democracy and fight back.

as it becomes clear that Yes has won in VA and gerrymandering will pass, a message to Republican voters:
you brought this on yourselves
you convinced the most fairness-obsessed, That Wouldn’t Be Fair-minded voters in the country to affirmatively vote to put you in the dumpster
you earned this
Live results from PBS show NO winning so far with 52.2%, with 61% of the votes counted. Methinks you might be getting ahead of yourself, Jon. I hope you're right, but deploying the past tense is premature.

A New Jersey data center will reportedly receive $77 million in tax breaks — while only creating one permanent job.
One job, in exchange for higher utility bills, noise pollution, and potential groundwater pollution.
Is it any wonder communities are organizing to stop data centers?
Everyone who is finally coming around needs to be reminded that abducting and deporting their neighbors was not a bridge too far for them. Attacking Iran and Venezuela was not a bridge too far. Wiping out Palestine and abandoning Ukraine and protecting pedophiles wasn’t a bridge too far.
Incredible shots of the exchange between Rep. AOC and RFK, Jr. at today’s congressional hearing.

Dear Tucker…
Sounds like the response of a load of climate activists, who keep thinking that if we just handle Republicans differently, they will acknowledge that we've taken their concerns into account and will support our bills as if they were their own. There's an assumption of good faith that is not merited.
🚨 Virginia voters: If you are in line by 7:00 PM ET, stay in line! Do NOT leave.
If you arrived before 7 PM, you are legally allowed to remain there until you cast your ballot.
Every vote matters today. Please stay put and make your voice heard! 💙🗳️

Black Hills Energy writes to customers in an email, "Green Forward offers a simple way to address the carbon footprint from your natural gas use, without changing your home or how you use energy. "Participation starts at just $5 a month for one block. Each block addresses about 33% of the average household’s emissions from natural gas use. You can choose one block or add more to address a larger portion of your home’s carbon footprint. "Your monthly participation supports projects such as forestry management, grassland and wetland preservation and renewable natural gas certificates from landfills, farms and wastewater treatment facilities that help reduce or prevent greenhouse gas emissions. "There are no contracts. You choose the level of participation that works for your household and can change or cancel at any time. "Contribute to a sustainable future while keeping your natural gas appliances. How it works..."
Any climate scientists/policy wonks know if this is a scam? Always feels like greenwashing when a carbon-centered utility gives us the "opportunity" to pay more for their services with the promise that it will go toward sustainability.
Do not sit this one out, voters in Virginia! The entire world, not just the country, may depend on what you do today.
“We do ourselves no favors by pretending that American history is either cheerfully grand or unrelievedly bleak, for American history is a human undertaking and is as subject to selfishness and to greed, to cruelty and to injustice, as we are in our own lives.“ Jon Meacham, in American Struggle
Nothing misleading there. Pretty straightforward. Nothing ambiguous at all.
You must be new here. Phil has been a journalist for a long time. He knows what he’s doing.
If not for Trump, what's the emoluments clause for? What's impeachment for? What's the 25th Amendment for? What's section 3 of the 14th Amendment for? What are checks and balances for?
The baddies are cherrypicking the Constitution the same way they do the bible: for their own benefit.

Too late now! 😆 I'll muddle through somehow.
Yet again I remind everyone (as Elizabeth does in her very next tweet) that "foreigners are corrupting our pure blood with weakness & disease" is Fascism 101. Not some variant, not some metaphorically similar thing, not some echo -- the thing itself.
I'm thinking about leaving social media/BlueSky. But just subscribed to volts.wtf because yours is one of the mere handful of voices I would really rather not do without. These two posts are good examples of why. Thanks.
I've never quite been able to capture it in words. I guess the way I'd put it is: the world in which people can see this story & simply nod & move on with their days & continue treating Trump like a respectable political figure is a world that operates on rules I fundamentally don't understand.
I loved my 2018 Leaf. Best built car, just had too short a range. Would buy another, upgraded one if I had the $$ in a nanosecond.
Just gonna put this out there to @stephenking.bsky.social: I have an idea for supporting Ukraine in this moment, to add to whatever the European Commission/EU loans them. It involves using two signed Rock Bottom Remainder Tshirts for a fundraiser. If interested, please DM me. If not, no worries.

Whatever it takes to defeat Donny's idol and mentor.

I can’t believe I’m going to utter these three words, but, in Trump‘s defense… All three of those women deserved to be fired. As do many, if not all, of his male cabinet members. As does he. He’s just not very good at hiring people.
Most of us have had this experience during our lives, when we’ve seen ourselves in a mirror of one kind or another.
Who is Stew Peters, and who took away his capacity for critical thinking?
Do you think the administration will make them do stupid journalist tricks? Or will the mere fact of their attendance be sufficient humiliation to satisfy the president?
“What I didn’t know was that measles can cause long-term complications. A child can seem fine while the virus slowly replicates in her brain… Because both Britain and the United States are confronting outbreaks, I am sharing my story. Parents should know just how dangerous this disease is.”
