The fact this is my first tv show and tell release since last year is kinda WILD but it feels so good to get into my tv analysis bag again, free from the limits of fandom x

New essay (or should I say, review 👀):
Heartbreak High Season 3 Was... Weird
Talking about character bias, lesbophobia, shipping and the Asexual Netflix Curse
leikeliscomet.substack.com/p/heartbreak...
Boarders s3 snatched the crown!
Every hierarchy hierarchy hierarchy with you people. This is what separates liberals & leftists in the ace community bc the former believes in superior and inferior sexuality but just doesn't like the acephobia, whilst the leftists want to abolish the categories of sexual superiority altogether
Said this on Substack but I need liberal aces + "allies" to have nuance. Me saying 'the allo queer community could treat aces a bit better' & 'nonsexual + nonromantic intimacy matters too' doesn't mean go 'everything is allo queer people's fault' & start slut shaming people in the comments 🥴
Happy International Asexuality Day to Black asexuals and asexual lesbians. Everyone else? Idk happy Monday I guess.
I get why Brits are saying they're scared about what's happening in the US happening here but like, we already have the criminalisation of transness, a recession, mass deportation, policing of Black communities, medical misogyny etc. There is no 'getting worse'. Its here. Now.
New essay:
Dyke or Prude, Who Will You Be Today?
Adding some depth to the I-don't-feel-asexual-enough-or-lesbian-enough struggle most asexual lesbians have, talking compulsory sexuality in the lesbian community and lesbophobia in the ace community
leikeliscomet.substack.com/p/dyke-or-pr...
You lot might be seeing me more often on here i fear
"Bluesky is boring" from the way tings are going on El*n's app I might prefer boring over unhinged, jarring and clapped icl
And of course, gotta shoutout the current Manchester Era too, bc while the reboot had a bit of a shaky start, it's really grown into its own #waterlooroad
Also gonna give the Scotland era some love (well, series 8 anyway) because it had some really underrated storylines and characters #waterlooroad
Happy Belated 20th Birthday to Waterloo Road! I never knew this show was gonna have this big an impact on me but I'm glad it did and does 😊 #waterlooroad
I literally can't educate someone who doesn't have basic drive to research the thing they allegedly care about. I can tell you something a thousand times but if you cant be asked to look into it by yourself, I cant help you. You can take a horse to water...
When I'm talking to people face to face I'll happily share theory & terminology bc i don't have my phone or its quicker to just say than take it out. But online you should take basic initiative to put "[word] -ai" in Google or use a dictionary.
Whilst sharing info is important especially in an age of AI induced misinformation, anti intellectualism & deep fakes, I miss when people Googled things. I'm sorry but i really don't like explaining definitions to people online anymore when you have access to a search engine
I'll always be black..not a poc
1 of my controversial ace takes is that it's not progressive to advocate for asexuality bc of our potential for sex when the lack of it is the core of the label & it's discrimination. I instantly distrust people who say 'aces can have sex' as support whether they're ace or not.
"asexuals can have sex".mp4 and "sex positive asexuals exist".mp4
A lot of people think the repulsed/averse/indifferent/favourable sex stances are about how likely an asexual person is to have sex with you more than what an individual asexual person's sexual boundaries and needs are and that disgusts and horrifies me.
I actually hate how sex-indifferent asexuals are lumped in with sex-favourable asexuals bc being indifferent to something, not just sex, doesn't equate to interest or support. We should be distinguished but if we had to be lumped in, 'sex-repulsed/indifferent' makes more sense
New essay:
The Boredom of Sexuality
Aka the sex-indifferent asexuality essay bc a lot of you don’t know what sex *indifferent* means anymore. Also some thoughts on sex-neutrality vs sex-positivity, nonsexual intimacy and pleasure:

Showing kindness, empathy and grace to white people who are racist is a good way of establishing that you are a Black person that can be safe, trusting and beneficial for white liberals and I have 0 desire to be a Black person like that.
Ungrateful by Megan Thee Stallion might be the best song of her whole career honestly...
Ngl I need to get more active on here. It may be more "boring" than twitter but I'll take the boringness over non stop fuckery every time the app opens. Sometimes we need rest!! 😭
Made a video about the N word incident at BAFTA talking about British institutional racism in relation to Black Britain and the dangers of erasing our activism.

This video slapped so hard. I love Black British positivity, consciousness & community so baddd
Thanks for sharing Deb. I wasn't even planning on doing SAM discourse it just got brought up in my essay when it had no relevance, which made it even more exhausting 🥴
Britain invented the Golliwog.
Britain invented 'No Blacks, No Dogs, No Irish'
Britain invented 'Ain't No Black In The Union Jack'
Black British or Black American, don't let white Brits gaslight you into thinking there's no racism here. Its the heart of the empire for a reason.
