heck of an experience

Being stuck in a car that plays Tamer Hosni, for two hours must be an experience. I'm 30 mins in and already feeling humbled.

Of course, villages in Lebanon are already being completely demolished. It's visible in free Sentinel-2 imagery, as @emansh.bsky.social has been showing: bsky.app/profile/eman...
It's also visible in high-resolution imagery obtained by BBC's @merlynthomas.bsky.social: www.bbc.com/news/article...
Twitter/X post from Sky News international reporter Alex Crawford reading: Israeli military reporters say 55 towns and villages in south Lebanon will remain occupied by Israeli troops. The Lebanon ceasefire agreement will impose a ‘yellow line’ similar to Gaza. Those civilians will not be permitted to return to their homes cut off by the ‘yellow line’ - ‘and the IDF is authorized to continue destroying terror infrastructures in them even during the ceasefire’, according to the Israeli reporters who were briefed by the military Link: https://x.com/AlexCrawfordSky/status/2045171752351715426
Post from @alexcrawfreports.bsky.social on X says a "yellow line" will be created in southern Lebanon, cutting off 55 villages. Stated goal of destroying "terror infrastructure" likely means entire villages will be razed leaving people with no homes to return to. The same thing is happening in Gaza.

Al Tayybeh looks even more haunting
A Senegal court has sentenced a man to 6 years in jail for consensual same-sex acts, the first conviction under the new law.
This prison sentence is unlawful under international law. Senegal is bound by treaty obligations that protect every person’s right to dignity, privacy and equality.

the very same paragraph mentioned three towns so I'm linking to their imagery from before that I had compared to older Sentinel-2 imagery bsky.app/profile/eman...
As for recent investigations on Iran, I’ve also managed to still buy and receive Airbus satellite imagery with 50cm resolution. But I only do that in unique cases because I mostly like to do everything I do with freely available tools.
I personally get a bit annoyed by the emphasis and doom-thinking of the restrictions on Planet. Yes, it’s frustrating, mainly for it’s wide coverage and fee’s, however it’s not the end of the world. I spend years not using Planet at all and still managed.
For the longest time, I didn't have the luxury of high-res imagery & much of the Global South get stonewalled or priced-out when requesting some outside big-name orgs & uni researchers so, many learnt to work around it. Misleading the public on what's available in terms of visibility is reckless.
My issue with this article is that it claims satellite imagery isn't available. Yes, high-resolution satellite imagery isn't. Low-resolution and SAR imagery are and are evidently backing up those "claims".
