@robfordmancs.bsky.social Just heard you on R4! For a lot of councillors it would be an extra two years in office as many new unitary councils not due to take up their powers until 2028 (following elections to shadow authorities in May 2027)

It’s a question very specifically about editing the speech (which the BBC has already apologised for). If it had asked about the programme as a whole or wider coverage or if damages should be paid I suspect majority answer would be different
Utterly shocked to hear about the mistaken release of Hadush Gerberslasie Kebatu today. It’s a basic function of the prison service to know who they have in custody and the terms of their sentences. This completely lets down the victims, witnesses and police who got him convicted
The Prime Minister should tell voters whether their elections will be delayed by another year, not dodge the question.
Democracy delayed is democracy denied.
That is a lot of intervals! Is this post really to show off the sub-4 minute mile max pace? Agree with previous poster - programme the workout into your watch and get it to remember for you
Another really grim day of news yesterday. Too many people I know can’t live their lives as they wish because other people choose to hate their religion, colour or heritage. This has to be challenged, not normalised
The police are implementing special measures from 12 noon today to reduce the risk of violence and keep people safe - details at www.essex.police.uk/news/essex/n...
Had a positive day yesterday starting at parkrun followed by talking to residents in Epping including some of those directly affected by recent events. Thanks to those who shared their thoughts on what has been happening (and on parking, overgrown vegetation, abandoned cars and other issues too)
The motion was passed. My speech at www.youtube.com/watch?v=yy4l.... Later in the meeting I questioned a cabinet member about revising the out-of-date infrastructure plan for Epping Forest and asked for councillors to be able to discuss plans to make councils less local
Arrived at tonight’s Epping Forest Council meeting. I hope councillors tonight will agree to express support for the victims of recent incidents, condemn the violence and criminality those with no interest in our community have stirred up, and support an end to the use of hotels for asylum seekers

It’s Epping Town Show day - until 5pm at Stonards Hill. Good to see lots of our local organisations here including Epping Forest Band
Had a very pleasant wander round Epping in the sun looking at scarecrows this afternoon. Open at the community garden (next to Marks and Spencer) until 3pm tomorrow
Lots of local politicians do this sort of thing but are not necessarily very good at shouting about it - for quite a few it’s their route into politics. And some are good at posting on social media about volunteering without actually doing very much. The best manage both!
It’s May Fayre day at Swaines Green today - enjoy the sun!
Today Liberal Democrat Peers in the House of Lords will table a fatal motion, to reinstate the delayed local elections. If passed, millions of people would get their votes back.
The Conservatives must back our plan and end their disgraceful stitch up with Labour.
At Essex County Council budget today, the Lib Dems prioritised Essex’s vulnerable adults, families and young people; environment and local road schemes. These have all been let down by Essex County Council under the Conservatives.

At one time it was suggested county Mayors could be called Governors (as in US states)
I raised concerns in Parliament today about Essex Police cutting all 99 PCSOs due to a £12.5 million budget shortfall. These officers are vital for community safety, and this decision could have serious consequences. The government needs to step up and support Essex Police.
Today at PMQs, I shared the story of Dipak, a Chelmsford pharmacist whose business is under threat due to NHS contracts failing to cover rising drug costs. No pharmacist should have to dip into their savings to stay open.
