The 37-year drought in Ann Arbor is over.
Hail to the victors valiant, the national champions, the Michigan Wolverines.
Dusty May, hired just two years ago, has coached the maize and blue to a 69-63 victory over UConn. #GoBlue

Hurley’s appealing for a potential flagrant. It gets denied.
Breeding with one last F-you to UConn.
And THAT might do it after Alex couldn’t get the three there.
THEY MISSED ANOTHER ONE!!!
Holy shit, Michigan actually missed a free throw.
How crucial is that swing that led to the McKenney three now?
If UConn gets the loose ball before that, this Solo shot would have tied the game or given the Huskies the lead.
Demary just fouled out with 1:07 to go.
Trey McKenney just ended it. #GoBlue
KARABAN!
Four on Silas after Mullins pushed Cadeau away from the basket on the previous possession.
They’re going down the stretch after Johnson picked up his fourth foul to send Tarris to the line.
Michigan is 3:48 away from its first national championship since 1989. All the Wolverines have to do is close out their 60-51 lead on #UConn. #GoBlue
Does Michigan ever miss free throws?
Common foul on Michigan. Nothing comes from the review.
Mullins cashed in on a triple #UConn DESPERATELY needed following two rare misses at the line by Karaban. Hurley wants a half-minute after the Huskies got back within eight.
And now Breeding is going back #ToTheMonitor for another flagrant review. Pass me the 151.
Three on Yaxel. That’ll send Karaban to the line. #UConn
Solo back in with 6:30 to go. So too is Yaxel.
UConn had a chance to get within one possession, but Roddy Gayle deflected the entry pass and fed Aday Mara for a transition dunk to get Michigan back up seven going to the U8.
This game isn’t over yet, with 7:16 still to play, but the Wolverines have a 52-45 advantage. #GoBlue
Three fouls on Johnson. Not sure how #UConn didn’t get the tie-up a few seconds prior.
Correct. But Breeding + Michigan always getting the officiating benefit of the doubt in every sport = that foul discrepancy.
#UConn needs to be killed about 100 times over down the stretch to completely put them away. It’s still a nine-point game at the U12, and there’s still an eternity to get through with 11:33 remaining in regulation.
Michigan has a 48-39 lead, but this isn’t over yet by any means.
It’s 15-6. Shouldn’t happen in a game like this.
Michigan just hit its first three. Hurley wants a timeout, down 11 with 12:47 to go.
Could be game over in another couple minutes at this rate, which would suck because nobody ever wants a blowout in a championship game.
It’s all Wolverines now, up 48-37 on #UConn.
Michigan with another huge play going into the U16, with Lendeborg drawing Tarris’ third foul to put the Wolverines up seven. He’ll go to the line for three on the other side of the timeout.
#UConn’s on the short end of a 40-33 score with 15:16 on the clock. #GoBlue
Four on Solo after Cadeau baited him, and one. Could be the separation Michigan needs here. #GoBlue
Three on Silas now too. #UConn
I seriously can’t believe the NCAA has him on this game.
James Breeding is the absolute worst
That game was so ridiculously officiated one way that the NATIONAL MEDIA came out after the game naming names like “Yeah, you shouldn’t see Kipp Kissinger, Brent Hampton, or Donnie Eppley the rest of the tournament.”
Solo just picked up his third foul 29 seconds out of the locker room, but he had no choice after Michigan broke the #UConn press with an outlet pass to Burnett.
Michigan has a 33-29 lead at halftime, and #UConn is fortunate to only be down four after playing 8-on-5 and seeing three players get called for two fouls in that first half.
Malachi Smith stabilized the Huskies, James Breeding is making it all about him in all other accounts.
He’s not as bad as the Baylor game in 2022, but he sure as hell ain’t good either.
