Grubby-handed chap with a big grin having got the tractor started and taken it for a drive around the orchard. Much to learn

#thingsilove: sunsets, sunrise on the hills, and crumble for breakfast. Not a bad way to finish and start a day
#thingsilove (lost count!)
Gigs with friends in the evening sun, food on the beach at sunset, warm seas washing over toes in the sand. Glorious week in Cornwall. Home tomorrow
Missed my train by seconds, leaving time for a chat with Coffee Stall Chap, who was admiring my rapid reverse parking by his stall. He’d failed his test 9 times, now passed, but finds parking in tight spaces intimidating. “It’s not magic, just practice”, I assured him. He beamed. “Ok! Practice!”
#unsupervised Day 3 of 7: Korean chicken burgers with Asian lime and peanut slaw, and maybe just a few chips. Ben’s home but he’s definitely supervison-lite. Glorious evening for eating outdoors.
Yes there were calories involved. It’s OK. I’ll go for a country walk with the dog to burn them off…
#unsupervised - Day 2 of 7: A very responsible tofu and black bean chow mein. Rather good. Settled in for the evening with a very tasty blonde.
#unsupervised Day 1 of 7: Oh yes I did. What? Fish Finger and chip burrito. Washed down with This. Genius. (With salsa, black beans and La Costeña Serrano Toreados)
Life on the edge!
A mug of tea on a glass top patio table, looking out over the vibrant blues and greens of a summer morning in the garden
Lilac in bloom
Evie the hairy dog sniffing the airs
#thingsilove: Gorgeous Morning! Sitting out with a mug of tea in the still summer morning, listening to the songbirds and pigeons, and the muffled construction sounds of New Neighbours (who are making the house next door into their home). Pastries in the oven, coffee in the pot ready for breakfast.
Blue sky, sunshine, green grass, and a dog pottering around in the distance
I find myself wondering if any languages have a word for “The joy of walking the dog in the sunshine on a crisp spring morning”.
(Looking at you, Finnish friends…)
Sunday Bristol Scene. Coffee and pastries.
Ah yes. Scanning the bookshelves I stumbled upon Barry Humphries’ little known scientific treatise “Handling Dna”.
I rather like this idea.
I may not be where I was hoping to be this weekend, but where I’ve ended up is very pleasant. Feeling the warmth of the sun on my back.
“How could you be so cruel?”
Sad looking dog resting her head on her own personal pillow, resigned to another day with zero fussing, no extra treats, no love, and just the one walk.
#OneSidedConversationsWithDog:
No. You’ve already had your chew. You wanted it early, you got it early.
Enough with the flippety-uppy ears and excited wagging. You don’t get another.
I know. Life’s not fair. Settle down.
Orion Nebula (M42) - clouds of glowing pink and grey dust stream away from a bright star
Glowing orange and red dust and gas clouds with a bright, slightly green tinged star. The silhouette of the Horse Head nebula can be seen in the lower part of the photo
#thingsilove on a Monday night: A little bit of Astro with the Seestar. Zero photographers were frozen in a muddy field while this was taken. Even had time for a beer, and a load of ironing. Leisurely Astro. M42 and IC 434
Long shadow of a dog and person cast across a frosty playing field in the morning light. Not a cloud in the sky.
Glorious frosty walk with Dog today. Good morning all!
/looks up “Schlemmertopf”/
Excellent. Is this based on theory or practical experience?
I’m a huge proponent of the afternoon nap, but maybe that’s because I’m old and decrepit.
I hope you have(‘nt) learned from this experience!
Chocolate oranges and “Good choices”? Appreciate I may be a minority but these for me belong in the same “Nope” category as Jaffa Cakes!
Soggy winter garden scene through a rain-covered window
#WeirdWeather - jealousy is a terrible thing, but so is the unpredictable and unusual UK weather. So you’ll excuse me for wishing I was in New Zealand right about now. Wind and rain in January to be expected. Thunder, hail and lightning not so much.
UK warnings of the approaching storm Éowyn - coastal areas may be particularly affected
Yeah yeah. Rub it in, you lot, why don’t you?
One of the most inspiring and emotional Grand Designs ever. So impressive - worth a watch if you enjoy this kind of thing.

Two trees and a bench in a frosty landscape, slightly misty atmosphere
Fluffy dog running across the frosty grass
Fluffy dog sitting on a frosty bench in the sunshine
Frost crystals on rosemary
#thingsilove strikes again, with a glorious frosty morning. Makes a change from recent weather.
Two paperback books on Early Italian Recipes by Marco Gavio de Rubeis - the first on cereals, bread, pasta, and pies, the second on meat, meatballs and, sausages
Much excitement and anticipation. Thanks for the heads up @freewaydiva.bsky.social!
Hnuuhh... I need more coffee before I take on this challenge.
Hello 2025. Let’s get the #ThingsILove series off to a good start this year. Dawn in the City, and the office to myself:
Sun setting over London’s South Bank. The sky is pale blue, with clouds lit brilliant orange in the evening light. The River Thames meanders through the city in the forground
I do love a good sunset.
