Ireland is 1 of only 4 countries in Europe with an average of LESS than 1 FT employee per academy. The above slide is not a criticism of volunteers btw. They are & always will be the bedrock of Irish football, it just isn't possible to develop world class players in a volunteer led environment.

The last weekend of canvassing ahead of #GE24. If we want to see successful ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช teams again on the world stage, we need to tackle these 3 key issues. That's why we need the next government's support to help us create a sustainable player development model for our young people.

In short, the problem we're trying to solve is how do we develop players (Boys & Girls) through our player pathway, that are good enough to consistently play in one of the Top 5 leagues in Europe, therefore bringing success to our senior ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช teams.

With 8 days to go before #GE24, here are some of the reasons why we need government investment/support into our academy system if ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช is to consistently qualify for FIFA World Cups. Rankings directly relate to chances of qualifying, as do the number of players in Top 5 Leagues & number of mins played.

Looking back on the various Political Party Manifestos from the 2020 GE & only Labour mentioned football.

Interestingly, Fianna Fail, Fine Gael, Labour, Sinn Fein & PB4P have all specifically included football in their pre-election Manifestos this time around. #GE24 #smallsteps

We need the support of the next government to help us develop a full-time Academy system here in ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช if we want to be able to consistently qualify & compete at World Cup Finals going forward.

There's 10 days to go before #GE24 so please raise this issue on the doorsteps.

With the election coming up please take time to read this and talk to politicians.

The league is clearly a big net beneficiary for the state, more support means more revenue for the state and a better league ๐Ÿ‘

Football desperately needs the support of the next government to help develop a full-time academy system. Without that support, ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช will fall further down the rankings over the next 5 to 10 years, esp considering the impact of Brexit has yet to reach the Sen international team. Time is not our friend.
