Tweet from Reverend Jordan Wells: "Why So Many Protestants Are Done with the Modern Papacy

I respect Catholicism deeply, but this is exactly why so many Protestants have major issues with the current direction of the Vatican.

The Pope’s clear liberal political bent is impossible to defend."

This is an incredible tweet.

Soundgarden’s ‘Spoonman’ Isn’t As Illicit As Most of Us Thought in 1994 Soundgarden's 1994 song 'Spoonman' is actually about a spoon-playing street performer, and not about drugs.

This is stupid. Nobody thought Spoonman was about anything except the actual guy from Seattle, “Artis the Spoonman” who also starred in the video playing… spoons. www.vice.com/en/article/s...

My patient would rather take a peptide than a statin. That reveals an uncomfortable truth in medicine “The volume of evidence behind a therapy has become inversely correlated with public trust in it,” writes Vikas Patel.

“My patient is refusing a drug studied in 170,000 people because of side effects that a 124,000-person analysis just confirmed do not exist — while injecting a compound studied in 14 humans, from unregulated sources, based on the recommendation of someone who profits from selling it.”

The Leaf Sheep Slug: The Animal That Eats Sunshine. A few animals can get their energy from photosynthesis; one of those is the adorable leaf sheep, which steals chloroplasts from algae and stores them to run on solar. [kottke.org]

I’m not even kidding but my brain was doing the same this morning but with coelacanth, coleanthus, and caecotropes. We have rabbits and it was the third one I couldn’t remember. Google at your own risk.

Vancouver’s “progressive” parties are going to turn city hall into one of those 19th century photo parlours where you can dress up and get your picture taken like a Mountie or a school marm! Don’t let this happen, get out and vote!

Apologies to anyone who had Paul Gillingham’s “Mexico” on hold at VPL. I finally finished it and returned it this morning. Seriously, 752 page books should get a longer loan period, especially if you have a job and kids.

This dog just grabbed a whole croissant off the counter, casually flipped it into the air and ate it like an orca devouring a seal. No guilt whatsoever. Completely remorseless.

I continue to be fascinated by what the algorithm thinks is wrong with me. A couple of years ago it was erectile dysfunction, then a frighteningly buff Asian man was telling me I needed to do tai chi, next was my vagus nerve, and now it’s dehydrated fascia blocking my lymphatic system. Amazing.

A lot of Canucks feel pride at a Canadian astronaut on a moon mission. The Carney government is milking this opportunity to associate itself with those good feelings while cutting nearly a third of all funding for Canada's space agency.
