jojolion follows up one of the best arcs in the series with a chapter about joshu scratching his balls and moaning while begging his dad to buy him an idol's fragrance and talking about how she's almost as cute as yasuho. araki loved that fucking character.
jojolands araki will go several pages without so much using 'quotes' for 'emphasis' when usagi has to talk about his evil homophobic mom but jojolion araki can't go two chapters without motherfucking joshu showing up and talking about 'ou~~ahh se~~x! i'm su~~ch a 'gassy guy'!!!' on a double spread
so why *was* jojolion dialogue like that

i don't dwell on it often but man. i'm rereading jojolands to current date and it makes VA look really rough by comparison. granted it's been 30 years, but i don't feel that way about any other part-to-part comparison... except maybe VA-SDC lol
i understand the anime definitely did a lot of good for it and it has a lot of Crazy Fights but i've always been quite numb to it. thematically simple; kind of a morality play in a way that jars with the setting and the ultraviolence. very mobster-of-the-week. many main cast members done dirty.
vento aureo being so popular in this post-anime world still hasn't really sunk in for me. not because i'm a committed lifelong hater — that's me with SDC — but because i've always thought it's, like. broadly alright. character work is Fine. pacing is Exhausting. doppio is Fun. giorno is There.
