Perhaps because another way of phrasing the choice is "hoard wealth for a few at the expense of the many" or "share wealth widely." We'll do almost anything, including ruin our future, to not have to share.

Beavers hate the sound of running water. My education continues.
True History of the Kelly Gang & My Brilliant Friend. Two books in which the ownership of a pair of shoes/boots takes on an unexpected level of dramatic significance. #booksinconversation #ferrante #petercarey
Going through hundreds of letters received in the late 80s, early 90s; everything stops by 1997 with email. Amazed by the effort we made to reach each other, to say something, to stay connected across countries and oceans. Lots of people I've since lost, but not all. Grateful for having a past.
A treasure. And also someone who (like Schultz, Rulfo) wrote a 150-ish page masterpiece and not much else that matters, or matters much. But that one thing is truly incredible and enduring.

Malignant tumor, without a doubt.
Always a pleasure when Trump accidentally speaks the truth, like naming Vance "Fraud Czar". Exactly.
This makes more sense all the time.
Today I learned that 17th century causes of death in London included "blasted," "teeth," "dead in street," "eaten by lice," "King's Evil," and "wolf." Not much changes.
Apparently not. At least for me.
I've been to many protests at the Capitol here. I would say twice as large as I've ever seen.
WWBD? What would Brutus do?
I hope so!
They probably thought they were impeaching Biden.
I don't think I know that one, but ... probably excellent.
Start with Ritsos. Which can be tough, because he wrote something like 6,000 poems ... so "selected" helps. A favorite:
The modern Greeks -- Cavafy, Ritsos, Seferis, Elytis, and probably others I don't know -- make a pretty special canon.
Worth considering, indeed.
