My exact response every time - it's like the kid in class who thinks he's cooking and instead he's just spewing the most half-baked sentence anyone's ever heard.

The US Vice President is arguing Catholic theology with the Pope
My alma mater, St. Rose, closed two years ago. It was an incredible place to learn, had dedicated History faculty, and I am still so sad about it.
W.E.B. Du Bois: “Either he knew what slavery meant when he helped maim and murder thousands in its defense, or he did not. If he did not he was a fool. If he did, Robert Lee was a traitor and a rebel - not indeed to his country, but to humanity and humanity’s God.”
This is actually my motto as a teacher
j.d. vance said "let's turn this hillbilly elegy into a hillbilly homily." and leo said "no" (Italian for "no")
There are few more potent excuses to reduce education budgets and teacher headcount than the pretense that technology can replace their work, and believe me, that's what politicians will do with the myths that teachers can "save time" and "prepare students for the future" through AI tools.
Sorry to go full millennial with the Anchorman reference, but if we're being completely honest, I do see the oft-derided millennial optimism and earnestness as an antidote to AI bullshit (not to say my generation-mates aren't using it; I know they are)
Using AI is the equivalent of the Anchorman joke "I have many leather-bound books." They don't care that the Latin is wrong, they want the trappings of academia, learning, intelligence, without the work, effort, creativity, and adventure. It's absolutely bankrupt of the joys of humanity.

French Civil Commissioner to Saint Domingue during the Haitian Revolution, a secret abolitionist who started to officially abolish slavery while he was there. (He was, ofc, still problematic but hey)
Happy Birthday to a baddie, Papa Sonthonax
I have seen a lot of cursed stuff in my time in academia but this is among the *most* cursed.
Grammarly is generating miniature LLMs based on academic work so that users can have their writing ‘reviewed’ by experts like David Abulafia, who died less than two months ago.

AI will easily be able to diagnose Frank Sinatra's cold...photography can tell us more about waterlilies than Monet every could!
Thus as it ever was with people who don't understand skill, discipline, and artistry trying to supplant it with the latest technology.
I've cut almost 5,000 words from a chapter today and WHOOO boy it is hard.
