Mamdani hasn't had time to really think about all that space he now has, because he spends most of his time at City Hall and around New York City. He tries to keep a semblance of his old life by getting around the city on foot, by bike or train.

"If you spend every single day driving around in a tinted window security detail, you will have a very specific view of the city," he said. "You actually meet other New Yorkers and you break out of the bubble that so many have come to expect of politics, where politicians only seem to be spending time with other politicians or the people who donated to make them politicians."

I'd say that this applies to anyone traveling in a car in any city. Being in a car versus walking, riding, or taking transit fundamentally changes how you view a place and your relationship to it. I wish more leaders set this kind of example.

It’s just always nice to know that there’s some advancement from the initial renderings to tangible work being done

Huge news:

portland hasn’t done a sunday parkways in inner northeast or southeast in years because they want to be able to do them in low ridership east and west portland neighborhoods. but we could just do more than five and have them everywhere in the city

I’ve always thought Sunday Parkways should be much more often

Everyone shed a tear for Steve, who has been forced to suffer the *INDIGNITY* of having a 3-floor apartment building built next door to his home that's tripled in value since he bought it 13 years ago. Just think of the QOL impact! 😭

Steve wrote in opposition, you should write in support.

Have you not submitted testimony for the Inner Eastside for All resolution? Better do it right now!

I strongly suggest you join me in writing them to ask for an amendment to bumb the timeline from summer 2027 up to December of this year.

After really internalizing this, and seeing the Billions of $$$ proposed to extend the MAX 2 miles into Vancouver (where most buses run 2x/hour)

All I can think of is, how many line 70s could we make frequent for that kind of money? Line 71? Line 24?

Here’s the plan: we convince Damian Lillard to change his name to César E Chavez and claim that the street is named after our beloved Trailblazer and not that OTHER Cesar E Chavez, saving the city at least hundreds of dollars

Here’s the plan: we rename this overpass the Brooklyn Bridge so we confuse international tourists to visit Portland, providing a major boost to the economy

I’m a pro micro-studio and dorm style living account! Make them smaller! Let’s get some 75sqft apartments for 200 dollars a month! I guarantee people will choose it!

Probably, I think Madrid will be a future Alaska destination but probably from SEA. I’m just desperate for any Trans-Pacific service

A flight to a OneWorld hub like Tokyo (or Madrid for Europe) would be low risk with further connection opportunities in addition to funneling connections through PDX

Good we need more investment from Alaska in PDX

NHL feels like a better bet for Portland than MLB even, considering we don’t necessarily need a separate building for the team

Insanely NIMBY shit from a “progressive” on a project that will greatly improve bike and traffic safety in his district! Him not knowing about it is an indictment on how much he’s paying attention to his own district

I canceled my Washington Post subscription after Bezos axed the Kamala Harris endorsement. Not because of Harris, but because it was a watershed moment that showed us the WaPo had gone from being a public trust to Bezos' personal instrument. Everything since then has confirmed as much.
