There's a distinction between the UK, which allows birthright citizenship for children of non-citizens with settled status, and, say, Norway, which does not. The map makes that distinction.

Is... is one of the bedrooms only accessible from outside? Or am I totally misreading the floorplan?

Genuinely laughed out loud, because been there.
Gladys West died January 17 at age 95, leaving an extraordinary legacy in mathematics and geodesy.

Shards of Honor and Barrayar focus on Cordelia, yes. I haven't found them the best point of entry to the series personally, as I think Shards reflects being an earlier work. But this is definitely YMMV.
Another possibility is Enchantress From The Stars trilogy by Sylvia Engdahl
Ethan of Athos and Komarr by Lois McMaster Bujold. (Both are part of the longer Vorkosigan Saga, but both have female protagonists and can be read without the rest of the series. Ethan is more standalone than Komarr though).
A tabby cat with both orange and brown stripes lies curled on a basket of laundry.
It seems an appropriate time for a cat picture
Called and left voicemails. Please do the same if you can. 5calls.org makes it really easy to get the phone numbers!
Fair enough! Thank you for the response and I'll continue enjoying your other writings.
Just watched this last night, and appreciated your review. The grace of the movie was truly moving.
I was curious if you had shared, or have any plans to share, thoughts on Kpop Demon Hunters. As a parent with small children I've really appreciated your reviews of children's movies.
There's a prequel?! How did I miss there was a prequel?! Thank you for sharing!

I like Bruce Cockburn's Christmas cd, with "Riu riu chiu", the Huron Carol, and "Down in Yon Forest", among others. Also Alison Krauss and Yo Yo Ma have a lovely version of the Wexford Carol on "Songs of Peace and Joy", although most of them are more common.
I did it! I remembered to buy sleds BEFORE snow was forecast and everywhere sold out. Now to see if we actually get any sledding snow this winter...
We hung lights and then the elementary school kid insisted we go on a walk and see all the neighborhood lights and it was lovely and not too cold. The next evening it was single digits cold so we stayed inside, made hot cocoa and s'mores and played Uno.
These are impressive, thanks for sharing! What recipe for sturdy but edible cookie and frosting does he recommend?
To my friends from LiveJournal I still think about you Wonder if you finally quit, Do you still speak to your mom? I remember when you went to Japan How you swore you'd never forgive him. I can't remember to take my meds but I remember you wanted to live on a houseboat. It's a strange intimacy, all of us unspooling across decades of internet space Like balls of yarn leaving a trail behind us of everywhere and everyone we've ever been I hope you got your houseboat. I hope you got everything. -Hayley DeRoche

There's also Elizabeth Wein's series focused on the children of camelot and ending up in Aksum/Ethiopia. The Winter Prince is the first one.
For fun, Edward Eager's Half Magic has a chapter where the children wish themselves to Camelot and do not get along with Lancelot at all
For retellings, I love Gillian Bradshaw's Hawk of May, Kingdom of Summer, and In Winter's Shadow. Also Rosemary Sutcliff's Sword at Sunset.
Gerald Morris has a whole series of humourous retellings, starting with The Squire's Tale.
Just finished The Summer War by Naomi Novik. What a delight! I read it in one sitting and wish it were longer, but its brevity contributed to its magic.
It may be time for a Going Postal re-read...
Lois McMaster Bujold's Penric and Desdemona series is a lot of fun.
Have you tried Martha Wells fantasy? The Fall of Ile Rien is my favorite and you might also enjoy Death of a Necromancer.
I also really love Marie Brennan's Lady Trent series
Recently, I really enjoyed the abandoned mine in The Tomb of Dragons by Katherine Addison.
I think Sophie from Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones.

So many of these are so similar to conversations I've had. Looking forward to enjoying the nap comix in physical form!
Panel 1) Rachael and Henry hanging out in Henry's room. Henry is sat on his potty. Henry: Mummy, you have a penis? Rachael: No, sweetheart. I have a vagina. Panel 2) Closer look at Henry and Rachael. Henry: What is it doing? Rachael: What is my...vagina...doing? Henry: Yeh. Panel 3) Close on Rachael. She looks confused. Rachael: I... Panel 4) Rachael with lots of maths stuff behind her like that confused maths woman meme.
Nap Comix #333
I'll be honest with you...I've been saving this one for the Kickstarter launch day. It's one of my fave conversations with Henry, haha!
ALSO: Oh my GOSH we are over halfway funded already??
I'm...flabbergasted. Thank you so much!
