UN calls for reparations to remedy the 'historical wrongs' of trafficking enslaved Africans UNITED NATIONS (AP) — The U.N. General Assembly on Wednesday passed a resolution declaring the trafficking of enslaved Africans “the gravest crime against humanity” and calling for reparations as “a c...

Hey @stuff.co.nz , you missed the bit where one of the abstentions was NZ, & might want to find out why we chose not to support a non-binding resolution that *the transatlantic slave trade was bad and perpetrators should make amends*. #nzpol

Reminds me of pearl formation - some kind of intrusive irritant appears, and the community surrounds it, covers it, and something beautiful to the outsider results

It does this by presenting many fractured, corrupted images of a small number or scale of incidents (your contextless images and videos), to enthrall and overload the viewer.

Less a Panopticon, and more a Kaleidoscopticon, if you will.

I like it, except the panopticon serves to control the people being watched (or who think they're being watched).
This version, however, seeks to distract and drive emotion in the watchers (the watched may be unwitting and unaffected - or at least not directly affected by the watchers)...

Why do we keep missing the second half of the saying?
A few bad apples *spoil the bunch*.

These aren't the 'few', they are the spoiled bunch - and the answer surely involves going thru the apples one-by-one until no 'few' are left to do the spoiling?
