A Dürer-drawn celestial chart on a broadside with text and image parts. The image part looks like long lines travelling.
You see a Dürer-drawn celestial chart: an analog computer from the early sixteenth century. Have a seat, and enjoy this short paper instrument's 🧵 for #skystorians and more:

Wondering why anyone still cares about 'the Mandelson issue' is why the 'issue' happened (again) in the first place (again)...

Here’s some of the senior officials that Starmer has sacked. Just trying to work out what seems to be the problem here.

Miliband doubles down on net zero - Energy Live News
Labour to announce breaking the link between gas and electricity prices and more renewables push

Of 22 sites being held on a waiting list, before designation, 14 were at risk from development. That's 64% of potential SSSI's, and the wildlife living within them, at risk of being lost.

Palantir manifesto described as ‘ramblings of a supervillain’ amid UK contract fears
Alarm caused by posts of Alex Karp, tech firm’s CEO, championing US military dominance and of AI weapons
"It is unclear what inspired Palantir to publish the manifesto" - well, this kind of public speech is a key part of the PR strategy. But we should ask: why it is part of their PR to proclaim political programms rather than focus on just making & selling software? www.theguardian.com/technology/2...

Why Trump’s Weird Billionaire Pal Is a Threat to Freedom
The idea that journalism should answer to external review redistributes power, and turns investigations into defendants.
How did I miss this?
Anyone can pay $2000 to “object” to a press article - and the outcome will be judged by a panel of…AI?
This is insane & an a frontal attack on 1A and tha law.
Really? A panel of AI judges?

Later in the 1970s, Roger Freeman — a key educational adviser to Nixon then working for the reelection of California governor Ronald Reagan — spelled out quite precisely what the conservative counter attack was aimed at preventing: "We are in danger of producing an educated proletariat. That's dynamite! We have to be selective on the we allow to go through higher education. If not we will have a large number of highly trained and unemployed people." The two most menacing institutional sources of the same described by Freeman were obviously those two great public university systems charging no tuition: the University of California and the City University of New York. Governor Reagan was able to wipe out free tuition at the University of California.
