The never went out to concerts or for dinner, they did have a great social life through their not for profit association - they did trips to pick chestnuts & cherries and to italy to keep older Italians active

Raise the job seeker rate? Can’t do it

Address the massive inequalities caused by negative gearing & avoided capital gains taxes?
Can’t do it

Stop demonising asylum seekers & address Islamophobia?
Can’t do it

It’s not either or imho Australia can look after everyone - the govt chooses priorities like aukus, increasing pay for public servants while people are falling through cracks. We need to invest in prevention & early intervention

I’m so sorry 😢 it’s happening to too many people - we need to be able to predict how much housing etc is needed so people don’t end up homeless

so we can rate & predict the financial security of people aged 45+

Appreciate thoughts and any leads on work done in this area.

This is a growing concern as we will see more renters with each generation.

Problematic bc we don’t have rent control or sufficient social housing for those who need it.

Keen to create a financial security index rating and apply this to each local state and federal area,

The median super balance for women aged 60-64 is $158k. The ASFA comfortable standard for a single in retirement is $545k

Both superannuation and age pension make assumptions about housing - renters are really not considered in calculations of how much you need in retirement.

People are fed up with the lot of them - we just need more true independents to run 🤞🏼

This election I’m supporting @ziad_basyouny with @su.dharmapala because we believe in real community independents who want to serve citizens instead of their own interests. #auspol

We are a small country with less than 30 million people yet the average people falling through cracks is astounding to me. We absolutely deserve better than the pack of self serving politicians in parliament today.

Governments had a duty of care to citizens, to cause no harm #Robodebt to not misuse funds #budget #aukus, to ensure we have access to food, clothing and shelter and access to health care. We don’t seem to have public servants or politicians who truly serve the public. #itstime

Oh look - Albo’s electorate data I’ve put together on renters in Grayndler

44% of those aged 45+ are renters - where will they live as they age? Why we are seeing older people the fastest growing group of homeless

See the mortgage and rent stress from 2021

Surely we can do better

What keeps me up at night - median super balances at age 60-64 🙈

Our superannuation system is broken when at age 60 the median super balance for men is $211k and for women $158k

Meanwhile superfunds congratulate themselves.

Politics

I’ve been around politics all my life - in the 1970s my parents ethnic branch stacked for the ALP.

How it changed from community minded, advocacy to corporate vested interests is beyond comprehension. We are seeing the majors working against the public they are meant to serve. #auspol
