Yesterday was yet another sad day for those of us that had high hopes for our ‘progressive’ government 😢

Put Public Ownership of Water Back on the Table Privatisation of water isn’t failing - it is the failure. The Government is mid-way through a major review of the water sector. But so far, it has refused to consider a potential solution that’s backe...

Private companies are polluting our rivers, hiking up bills, and failing to deliver. 82% of us want public ownership – let’s make it happen!

I’ve been accused of being a conspiracy theorist because I insist that the BBC had everything to do with the rise of Farage & his Reform party.
This chart just focussing on BBC Question Time (2010-2020) shows there was bias towards the platforming of anti-EU MEPS especially Farage.
I rest my case.

Another Friday, and the end of another week during which Labour could have taken the first steps towards rejoining the EU, but instead chose to explicitly repaint its radioactively bright Brexit red lines.

So much wasted opportunity, it's incredible.

King Charles has invited Donald Trump to Scotland.

I have a better suggestion.

No King Charles and no visit from Donald Trump.

When Rishi Sunak made the Vaccine deal with Moderna as Chancellor, he had up to £530m invested in Moderna.

Now Michelle Mone is desperately bringing it up.

Like if you want Mone on trial.
RT if you want them both facing the music.

Excerpt from a public letter Roald Dahl wrote encouraging people to vaccinate their children.

Olivia, my eldest daughter, caught measles when she was seven years old. As the illness took its usual course I can remember reading to her often in bed and not feeling particularly alarmed about it. Then one morning, when she was well on the road to recovery, I was sitting on her bed showing her how to fashion little animals out of coloured pipe-cleaners, and when it came to her turn to make one herself, I noticed that her fingers and her mind were not working together and she couldn’t do anything.

“Are you feeling all right?” I asked her.

“I feel all sleepy,” she said.

In an hour, she was unconscious. In twelve hours she was dead.

The measles had turned into a terrible thing called measles encephalitis and there was nothing the doctors could do to save her. That was twenty-four years ago in 1962, but even now, if a child with measles happens to develop the same deadly reaction from measles as Olivia did, there would still be nothing the doctors could do to help her.

On the other hand, there is today something that parents can do to make sure that this sort of tragedy does not happen to a child of theirs. They can insist that their child is immunized against measles. I was unable to do that for Olivia in 1962 because in those days a reliable measles vaccine had not been discovered. Today a good and safe vaccine is available to every family and all you have to do is to ask your doctor to administer it.

The measles outbreak in Texas is reminding me of the public letter Roald Dahl wrote about losing his daughter to measles in 1962, just before the vaccine was publicly available.

Brussels lowers its expectations for Keir Starmer’s Brexit reset EU officials and diplomats believe improvements to the cross-channel relationship are possible, and still happening — but slowly.

"Six months of red lines and rejection have dashed hopes that the new U.K. prime minister really wants to walk back the more extreme elements of the Tory Brexit settlement." www.politico.eu/article/brus...

Quick reminder that in 2022/2023, members of the “Independent Healthcare Providers Network” (private companies) provided a grand total of 109 doctor training placements. That’s compared to ~75000 overall!

Private companies don’t ‘save’ the NHS-they poach its staff🚨🚨🚨

You know what?

The EU & UK should put tariffs on US goods (from red states) in solidarity with Canada and Mexico.

Rather than watching others get bullied and waiting our turn - we should unify against this bullying until the bully drops that behaviour.

Maybe tomorrow a <single journalist> might bother to find the Speaker or the Senate Majority Leader & ask why the hell they aren't acting to stop unelected people who aren't even federal employees from violating the laws Congress already passed, & to explain why this isn't a constitutional crisis? 🤷‍♂️

It started with conspiracy and propaganda then evolved into dehumanisation - spreading distrust, fear and disgust about the target. The powerless were given a group to blame, the illusion of power. The techniques used now are the same. It’ll only happen again if people let it.

Sadly, they are…

The Youth Mobility (EU Countries) Bill has just passed its first reading.

No opposition voiced by the govt. your thousands of emails stopped them shutting it down.

Well done @jamesmaccleary.bsky.social on a superb speech. 👏👏👏

The pitch from right wing politicians that the UK needs to leave the ECHR is based on a wholly misleading premise yet many are now being taken in by it. Let’s make sure everyone understands the actual facts. Leaving the ECHR will undermine all our rights

2/3rds of the people in the UK on 'benefits' are State Pensioners.

Of the other 1/3rd 60% are working.

The other 15% are the long term disabled people that you get in every country.

Don't listen to the Daily Mail.
