Led by Ionut Cioarta and organised by the Just City by the Med Research Network, the tour invited participants to reflect on how diverse communities shape - and challenge - urban narratives through collective action.

This walk and talk in situ explored urban inequality and the power of grassroots participation in this unique neighbourhood. The tour engaged with the area through the experiences of the Roma community, considering their efforts to build a sense of belonging and a better future.

A look back at the Govanhill Walking Tour held on 11 December 2025 in Glasgow. Govanhill is one of Glasgow’s most ethnically and culturally diverse neighbourhoods, while also experiencing some of the city’s highest levels of deprivation.
