In Pokémon Champions, trial Pokémon stick around after the trial period. You just can’t actually use them without recruiting them.
This distinction means you can trial recruit critters without any urgency to decide whether you want to spend the tickets or VP on them.

My issue with Delphox was I liked Braixen's design more, though I think part of that was the 3D model's fault. 2D official art of Delphox looks pretty cool.
(Looks up videos of 3D Delphox) The fork you mean non-Mega Delphox doesn't have a wand anymore 😕
I felt Delphox's design was boring next to Braixen. I liked the wand in the tail, the attack animations, and the general energy of Braixen. I felt something was lacking in Delphox.
Mega evolved Delphox has all the energy of Braixen and more. I think it's great.

Still working on EGSNP, should be done within a thousand years.
Or maybe an hour.
Whichever comes first.
"What about... THIS!"
"Your conclusion doesn't follow by necessity."

Philosopher daydream.
But seriously, it's so much easier to just acknowledge that exceptions exist to general rules instead of having to elaborate for each specific generality.
Unless the specific example they give is terrible.
Then nothing is salvaged and you have THAT to deal with 🗑️
If someone is breaking a general rule that exists for good reasons, they should be able to defend the exception.
A hazard of exceptions existing is people will take the concept of specific exceptions and run with "it's generally fine to break general rules" as a general rule.
"Dan, are you on a campaign to point out that exceptions are the norm so you feel less compelled to constantly put asterisks on general things and acknowledging likely exceptions?"
...NNNnnnooo? No. Of course not. How dare.
This is entirely to benefit society 😇
Aphorisms, most common of which is "show don't tell," a point most often expressed by telling.
"You use syllepsis way too much" is pretty specific to an individual, and in that case, I'd think it best to provide a context before pointing out every syllepsis they've unleashed.
Also:
"If you're breaking a general rule that exists for good reasons, you should be able to defend the exception."
This, too, is a general rule, but so are most things. You can generally spot general rules by how general and not specific they are, and saying it every time is generally excessive 😅
Took me years to grasp “the exception that proves the rule” (because it’s always brought up as an exception 🧐)
I bring this up again because the writing video I had on made a point of exceptions existing, and it was a bit awkward. It’s easy:
”This is a general rule, and general rules have exceptions.”
The more this is understood, the less people will trip over themselves trying to get ahead of nitpicking 😅
Nearly every general rule is going to have specific exceptions. That is the nature of general rules.
This can be misunderstood going in both directions. Generalizations get presented as absolutes, and exceptions are claimed to disprove generalizations.
Assumed context can have a huge impact on interpretation, which is why I say to out them *after* it’s been made clear what is meant.
(In part because the response might be, “yeah, I know that,” when they don’t really know what the main point is.)
I don’t mind the rule names coming up, but I don’t want them as openers. The weight of assumed context can be lightened by their absence while the actual relevant points are being made.
I dislike the invocation of general rules by name when giving writing advice.
They’re common enough that the listener / reader is likely to have their own opinions and baggage, and the actual point being made might be lost in that.
I plot to finally play Pokemon Scarlet without losing interest almost immediately, and part of my strategy for maintaining interest is transferring in a Popplio and a Fennekin.
It was just going to be a Popplio, but then I fought a mega Delphox in Champions, and Delphox is cool now.
If taking the pawn wasn’t a victory, then yeah, I don’t see the problem with promoting the pawn to try and make getting the checkmate easier.
(Generally, I mean. I know why it backfired here.)
I do have to assume there was a quicker way, but I didn’t see it in my second game in a long time 🙃
The quicker way probably being to take their pawn, now I think on it. I’m pretty sure leaving them with only a king is a win, not a draw?
Also, counterpoint, the game was dragging on as it was, and they weren’t forfeiting. I saw the promotion as a way to speed up the checkmate, not waste time. There was probably a quicker way, but it’d been several meandering turns of me trying to corner that King.
You’re not wrong, and this has no impact on what the rules should be, but I was playing against a computer 🤖. I was not concerned with wasting their time. “You’re the reason these rules exist” comes off as needlessly harsh
Maybe you thought I was playing against a person, in which case, more fair 🧐
A fierce battle for a lack of supremacy - www.egscomics.com/comic/falsek...
I have seen people compete for being the most pitiful before. By that point, it's usually a tie, but it's rarely worth pointing that out and ruining their fun.

Because I saw an opportunity to promote a pawn and took it? 🤔
That said, I’ve gotten better at Chess. This isn’t due to practice, I hadn‘t played in years. I’m just thinking through what can happen better than before (and I mapped out paths the knights can take, which has affected my opening move choices).
It’s blocked by my pawn.
Playing against a computer in Chess can feel real (and terrifying on harder difficulties), but there are times when the randomized “oopsies” are so catastrophic that it’s a little too obvious (such as trading the queen piece for something).
“You will win PROPERLY, darn it!”
I didn’t know about such mods lol
I figured I was weird for objecting to the nickname.
I’m confused by this being referred to as a stalemate. I guess it can’t be checkmate, as no one is in check, but stalemate sounds like “draw” to me when this feels like a victory.
There are no legal moves left for my opponent as they all put the king in check. That doesn't feel like a draw 😅
