Safer cities don’t happen by accident. They happen through leadership, policy and partnerships.
Baltimore has seen historic reductions in violent crime, and Greg Jackson has worked alongside Mayor Brandon Scott to make that progress possible.
Thankful to officially have his support for Dc Council.

I also sat down with a new parent who shared her challenges and lessons learned. So inspiring, but a major concern is the long waiting list of youth looking to simply learn.
Stokes is a bilingual immersion school...where kids are learning multiple languages. I walked in a 2nd grade classroom and was greeted with a "Bonjour" #BlownAway
So today was incredible....I spent my afternoon with the leaders of Stokes Elementary School. Did y'all know there leadership team has been a part of school staff for over 24 years!!! WOW
Investing in our youth, expanding evidence based practices and increased upstream accountability focused on the source or causes of violence are crucial to achieve real reductions in youth violence. My agenda outlines 15 actions to keep our kids safe in #DC. #LessTalkMoreAction
Our youth are more than a problem to solve, they are the future of the District we call home. I've spent over a decade leading efforts to prevent gun violence and reduce violent crime. Today I'm proud to share my agenda to address youth violence in #DC. #LessTalkMoreAction

Now I've decided to stand up against Trump and continue my journey to serve my community by running for DC Council At Large! My hopes is to take the best of what we accomplished in the White House, coupled with my organizing, to address gun violence, our housing crisis and education crisis in DC.
After passing this law, I was appointed to the White House to serve as Deputy Director of the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention where our team implemented 54 executive actions, moved over $42 billion in resources to violence prevention and successfully reduced homicides by 49% in 3 yrs!
It was here that I organized 100s of non-profits, service providers, survivors and activists to mount a historic advocacy campaign that passed the first law on gun violence in 30 years...the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act. A law that made historic policy changes + invested $15B to prevent violence
I then spent 5 years in DC government addressing the root causes of violence, constituent issues and improving the quality of life for some of our city's most overlooked communities. In 2019, after a family friend was killed in Greensboro, I decided to pivot back to national policy on gun violence.
With the support of family, friends and organizers from across the country I recovered, but made a vow that I would do all I can to prevent others from suffering a similar fate...which led me to mentoring youth and later being appointed as the youngest member of the Mayors cabinet.
Everything was violently disrupted when I was shot and nearly killed in 2013. The bullet hit two arteries and left me with a 50% chance of survival. When I arrived at the hospital, I was interrogated before being treated. I realized then that America saw me as a suspect first and a human second.
After President @barackobama.bsky.social second victory, I was recruited to the DNC where I ran the largest voter registration program in midterm election history. Alongside courageous organizers, we fought to get more Democrats in office nationwide.
After his victory, I joined the Organizing for America movement in North Carolina and fought in multiple campaign battles and issues fights, including the successful passage of the Affordable Care Act!
Coming to DC, I found myself stuck in a cubicle consulting for government agencies like FEMA, UPS, the U.S. Army and beyond until a man named Barack Obama decided to run for President. I rode a bus down to SC to help him win the primary and fell in love with campaigning!
While on campus, I ran to every fight for social justice and my first major victory was ending a racist dress code and later shutting down a prejudice restaurant on campus grounds. This lit the fire for social justice in me at a young age...https://c-ville.com/dress_code_debacle_gets_ironed_out/
I was blessed to attend the #UniversityofVirginia alongside my cousin Martin and we proceeded to be trailblazers for our families. I became the first Black first year President and later receiving the honor of being named a "Lawn Resident" my fourth year.
Born from two hardworking parents in Richmond, Virginia...we were taught the importance of hard work from a young age and even while attending public schools, my parents always had the HIGHEST expectations for us I became high school class vice president, team captain in basketball and football...
Hey BlueSky! I'm Greg Jackson...running for DC Council At-Large. I'm a long time community organizer, gun violence survivor, homeowner and activist for social justice...here's a little bit more about me.

If you want a sense of data- (suicide by older white men among 📈gun death rates) & public health-informed (crime only 15% of gun deaths), & commercially savvy (use enforcement against corporate entities to block distribution) public policy, listen to @nelbamg.bsky.social youtu.be/LF8OI0u6HL8?...
