New Interview: I talked to the Holocaust historian Deborah Lipstadt, who was Biden’s special envoy on antisemitism, about why she doesn’t oppose some student deportations, and why she wanted to keep some of her comments off the record. www.newyorker.com/news/q-and-a...

Fantastic interview.
The problem with most machine-based random number generators is that they’re not TRULY random, so if you need genuine randomness it is sometimes necessary to link your code to an external random process like a physical noise source or the current rate of US tariffs on a given country.
Oh thank you so much for listening!
They girlboss yassified Gilded Age space tourism.
It's not a "crew." These people are not astronauts, they are passengers. This is not feminism. This is not anywhere in the neighborhood of feminism.
This is the glossy capitalist influencer ripoff known as "empowerment" and it's just gross!
I saw this. Incredible. Thank you so much for thinking of me.
thanks so much, will DM! in case anyone else would like this info: he’s at MD Anderson and just finished his 11 out of 12 rounds of chemo (paclitaxel, gemcitabine, & cisplatin). he’s BRCA2+ and previously had prostate cancer.
other option was standard rad (25 sessions).
PARP inhibitor to follow.
i’m listening to a recording of his meeting with the rad onc so unfortunately don’t have all the info i should, but here’s what I have:
nanoparticle: NBTXR3
the study: A Phase I Study of NBTXR3 activated by Radiotherapy for Locally Advanced or Borderline-Resectable Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma
hey folks - my dad is considering a nanoparticle trial in conjunction with radiation post chemo for locally advanced pancreatic cancer. anyone familiar with this approach or trial? would love to hear thoughts, even tangential.
great to see you!!
ahh i hope you enjoyed. thank you so much for reading 🙏🏽
oh my goodness!!! you finished it already?! wow!! thank you so very much, this is just the best note. i am so humbled my story touched you. thank you for reading 🙏🏽
Thanks so much, Sean. Sending hugs of gratitude from me and my dad 💛
Timing, as with all things cancer, is in flux.
But I’ve been thinking a lot about how to create lasting memories with my dad since his diagnosis, especially ones that can transcend generations.
This is one way he’ll live forever on— for me, and for our future family.
Like my dad, I carry the hereditary BRCA-2 mutation, which increases cancer risk. I’m doing IVF with genetic testing to screen out embryos that carry the BRCA-2 mutation so that my family’s long lineage of cancer ends with me.
It’s a gift for me, but also for my future child, to get to hear their mom’s favorite book read in their grandfather’s voice.
I grew up, especially when I was really young, reading Harry Potter with my dad. In between chemo treatments and with the help of my radio-savvy uncle, my dad recorded himself reading THE ENTIRE Sorcerer’s Stone book. All 320 pages, culminating in a 9 hour and 40 minute “audiobook”.
He’s fatigued, occasionally nauseous, and overall exhausted. Still, amongst the incredible chemo schedule he found time to create magic.
My dad is receiving fantastic treatment at @mdanderson.bsky.social and, thankfully, has been responding well to chemo thus far. That said, he’s on an extraordinarily difficult regimen. Every 2 weeks, he receives an infusion of 3 chemo drugs
for 6-7 hours. He’s on chemo #10 out of 12. My hero.
This Christmas, I received the best gift of my life.
Here’s the backstory: my dad is my best friend and truly a fulcrum of my life. In August 2024, after battling metastatic prostate cancer for 9 years, my dad was diagnosed with Stage 3 pancreatic cancer.
My world, for the second time, shattered.
thank you so much, this is so very kind 🙏🏽
