Go check out my debut on Mothership! This one was such a labor of love for me — Disco Elysium’s one of my favorite games, so getting to write about its bizarre, messy world was kind of a dream come true.
Special thanks to @midimyers.com for the great edits. <3
Cue me staring off into the middle distance while Fortunate Son begins to play
I have my English classes do an end of year narrative writing assignment. It’s a good creative exercise, mostly good fun.
This girl just pitched me Supernatural fanfic.
In 2026.
Apparently some of the kids found it on streaming and now they’re reinventing 2010s Tumblr from first principles.

Hell yeah, congrats!
Love a lot about the show (Skarsgard as Eric, Nelsan Ellis as Lafayette, Deborah Ann Woll as Jessica, KRISTIN BAUER AS PAM), but I will never stop being mad about what they did to Tara. It makes it hard to rewatch the show.
This is so real, and it describes my experience exactly. I’m a woman, yes, but first and foremost I am a Dyke.
That’s both because it’s how I feel, what has meaning to me, but also because lesbians embraced me when I came out. They didn’t just allow me to carve out space. They made room.
To be clear, that’s a joke. Not because I’m married (my wife would be super down) but because I’m pretty sure I have a sinus infection.
You should give me $5 though, I was serious about that
It’s lesbian visibility week. If you aren’t a lesbian, that means if you see a lesbian, you have to give that lesbian $5.
If you yourself are a lesbian though…
heyyy girl, what are you doing on Friday?
"Yeah, just, girls crying and laughing and fighting. That's my favorite thing to draw." — @koh.money on their new webcomic, Angel Arcade, which celebrates "the experience of being a fighting game player"
I have read this, and it is indeed pretty fucking gay. And also really, really good. The creative team has a real knack for noir.
New from me on @mothership.blog — chatting with @koh.money about Angel Arcade! www.mothership.blog/irene-kohs-a...
It was also such a telling critique. Like, oh no, a chance to inhabit and engage with a world in a way that doesn’t revolve around violence. Que horror.
i guested on a good podcast to talk about @mothership.blog!! check it out. @404media.co is awesome btw, if you like mothership you should be reading 404 as well
Red states are rapidly turning themselves into intellectual backwaters, a petty and cruel attempt to indoctrinate the next generation, hoping in vain to stave off the oncoming backlash their policies have created.

Greg Owen interviewed me about the state of trans rights in Florida education.
The long and the short of it is that things are bad.
america is a land of profound contrast because i can accurately say "yeah the government refuses to grant me a passport even though im a citizen bc of anti-trans laws" and the other person is like "damn. anyway the most important issue in my life right now is that i dislike the new superman movie"
i think my student loan collectors want me to get into gymnastics, they keep telling me my balance is "outstanding"
any advice from writers for when you desperately need to start writing something but you can't because you're terrified of it being terrible
Maryland To-Do List (For when I’m no longer god’s brokest bitch) 1. Finally get to pursue further gender-affirming care. Laser and tits first? 2. Get health insurance that will pay to get fucked up sinuses surgically corrected. 3. Get new glasses. Research cute frames? 4. Finally have beautiful autistic lesbian teach me to play Magic the Gathering 5. Start working out again until I have the back muscles of a women’s rower
6. Get into regular DnD game that won’t be ruined by man pain 7. Become Ravens fan? 8. Research local green spaces to take Dani to 9. Legal name change/gender marker change (fuck Florida) 10. Go thrifting. 11. Find new bookshelves 12. Continue working on book 2 13. Find new LCS
For the past few years, I have felt my world slowly constrict around me. I’ve had to make myself smaller and smaller to get by.
But now I can count on one hand the weeks til my life can get big again. And I’m making a to-do list.
Jesus, did Clarence Thomas make this?
Feeling like my words had to be good when they went on the page nearly killed my desire to write. I basically didn’t for like 3 years. Letting go of that expectation let me start writing prolifically, and writing prolifically led to me occasionally drafting something I actually almost kinda like.
Step 1 - Make an outline of what you vaguely want the piece to be. Accept that it’ll change, and that’s okay.
Step 2 - Write non-linearly. Start with whatever you’re most excited about, get that on the page, then fill in the gaps.
Step 3 - Accept the first draft will still suck, but the 2nd won’t.
It’s a larger problem with fiction for women (and especially girls) being preemptively assumed to be light, soft, devoid of substance.
It’s always fascinating to see the insistence of Madoka as a deconstruction of the magical girl genre, because it really presupposes a vision of magical girls based more on a half-remembered viewing of the English-dubbed Sailor Moon anime. It’s not reckoning with the genre at large.
