I find it's usually quiet, but that's part of the appeal for me.

I try really hard not to curse on my socials, and try to keep it to a minimum offline.
But could 2026 fucking stop already? It's already been too much, and it keeps piling on. And it's only fucking April.

As a die-hard space geek, you may find it strange that I haven't said anything about the Artemis/Orion mission. The reason is simple:
I just want them to get back on Earth safely. I feel like this mission was rushed and risky, unnecessarily. When they're home, I'll geek out.
A movie couple who would definitely have a podcast (okay, it's a BBC miniseries but it counts)
In case you were wondering, TheBEAN just turned 14 and they're not on any social media yet, but they're becoming an incredible artist and I am one proud dad. Double proud because they've done multiple sketches of my book characters. Here are some other TB highlights.

Paint drawing of a red haired woman in a business suit holding a tumbler of scotch and looking disdainful.
My kid did this incredible fan art of one of my characters, Maureen, with her beloved tumbler of good scotch.
Art by TheBEAN.

Somehow I missed International Asexuality Day. I think it's been 3 years now since I identified as Demisexual, and it's really helped me understand myself better.
Proud to be demi/ace. π€π©Άπ€π
Finished the edits on Book 3 today. Gotta finish the read-through with the kid and then it's off to the editor.
Christopher Penn wrote: Just remember that given the abundance of neurodivergent people in science, it's far more likely that autism causes vaccines.
A different perspective.
Always helpful.
This is partially marketing and partially a sincere question. I've struggled with my genre since I started, because it combines so many elements of other things: humor, absurdity, crime, stakes, psychics. The only thing It doesn't have much of is romance.
If you've read them, what do you think?
Time to lay the cards on the table about unemployment, health, and the third book. It's not an emergency yet, but ask me again in May.

I feel this to my core.
Here's a moment of Zen courtesy of my backyard.
Got a rejection on one job, but a second round on another. This is the lot of the job hunter, but I'm excited about the possibilities.
Second week of unemployment, but I'm not worried yet. I'm still running on unused PTO, and I'm getting hits on my applications. If we get to May without an offer, then I might start to panic.
At least it's giving me time to work on Book 3.
Slept in my Rush T-shirt and began the day with a friendly voice, a companion unobtrusive.
A game you say? (Immediately looks this up)
Drop, or fly, some spaceship.
Enterprise Refit is the most beautiful ship I've ever seen to this day.
Rocinante is s-tier. That ship and that series don't get nearly enough love.
I never thought they could make Shoresy a likable character, but wow did they prove me wrong. "Sticks are unbelievable."
Why is it that, even at my advancing age, I still feel like a little kid when sitting on a doctor's exam table. Kicking my feet around and such.
Welcome to Day 2 of Scott's a giant idiot and got himself unemployed. I'm trying to treat it as paid vacation for now, but not sure how long I can convince myself of that.
Had a try at a full English. I'm not sure if it's right, but it looks like it's gonna be delicious.
If you're an author too, lay hands on your books today and remind yourself what an amazing accomplishment that is. And remember that it's so much more than the stats.
This is a whole book that I wrote. I'm holding it in my hand. It's real. I'm about to do it for a third time. I've seen those books in my local library.
Hand holding up an independent book.
Every now and then, I put one of these books in my hand. It's easy to get caught up in numbers and orders and marketing and likewise, but forget the tangible part of being an author.
