Also, too many people equate an "abnormal" lab test flag (as it relates to the reference range) with an abnormality requiring further intervention.
The people who order the most tests and the people who complain to me the most about tests flagging as abnormal are the same people.
I mean, Cadeau should be there. Absolument.
-"Blade, is that your name?"
-"Dad, is that yours?"
Do they still have the exhibit with the French artist's "merde de l'artist" in the little jar? I thought that was impressive.
The supplement industry is bigger and has more political power than the pharmaceutical industry

The annoying thing is the guy on the other sideline has given to Michigan on both those spots, only to back off afterwards.
The Good, The Bad, and Gary.
Starting to wonder if the makers of Narcan have done some kind of underground marketing where they just flood police stations with the perils of fentanyl exposure. What percentage of narcan is used by cops having panic attacks? Can't be a trivial number.
One of the greatest truths I have seen in the medical literature is this sentence in Up to Date about urine drug testing. In my experience, most docs understand there are limitations, but not the extent of them.
A televised white glove slap would be an amazing TV moment
This is how people talk about AI in medicine too - it's always everyone else's specialty that is most at risk. Never yours.
And the second thing is that a lot of early path AI seems/seemed to be focusing on doing what pathologists do in terms of diagnosis. Where it could be more helpful is integrating with record, clinical and other lab info, staging info, checking final reports, artifacts, etc. But not profitable! (yet)
Yeah, people ask me a lot about digital path, one of my responses is to compare the amount of time it takes to scan, open up on the computer, change magnifications, move around, etc, vs the time it takes to put a slide on my scope and look at it. Both require production of a glass slide at present.
This is a really good and informed article about the state of Pathology AI. Great to read something from a person who has actually made the effort to actually understand what a pathologist does. www.owlposting.com/p/what-happe...
I have an MD and I can assure you you are doing God's work here.
lol, I got the same exact text at the same time.
They're going to goose or manipulate or selectively present the data so that it looks like there is a correlation. These are unlikely to be legitimate studies.

In #GUPATH we talk about comedo necrosis in high grade prostate cancer being associated with intraductal spread - but not always - this is a lymph node metastasis, so no intraductal spread here!
Hello - The American Board of Pathology is soliciting nominations for a new trustee - as you can see in the posting there are no specific subspecialty qualifications or desires, we are just looking for someone who would make a good trustee. Please nominate! #pathsky

It's kind of bizarre because they could come out ahead by stopping all their donations to politicians and political groups and just accepting the higher taxes.
Funny how he's totally ignoring the key word "legitimate" that he put in there himself.
