everyone's talking about gerrymandering when you should be talking about gerry meandering

gerry (meandering in): this kind of wordplay was stale even before you joined bluesky. the only thing worse is if you turned it into a meta commentary joke about how bad it is

me: wazzaaa gerry

I confused Marlowe with Christopher Smart (entirely different *centuries! I plead fatigue 🙃) and thought 'no chance his cat Jeoffry would have permitted it, after all that effort to save him from the Devil!'

At NSF–DOE Rubin Observatory, it’s not just about galaxies and asteroids. Sometimes foxes wander by to check out what we’re up to, reminding us we’re part of a bigger ecosystem right here on Earth.

Science is wild. Sometimes literally! 🔭đŸ§Ș

Whoa.

Check out this photo from the Artemis II mission—the Orion service module on the left, the lunar limb at bottom right, and in the middle, a crescent Earth rising from behind the Moon.

It looks like it's sci-fi, but it's real. And just happened last week.

“Stasis” is a portrait painted by the artist Zara Alfonso, and is the first piece in her series about invisible illness. A portrait painting of a girl with skin so pale she’s almost translucent, her lips are tinged blue and she gazes upward through seemingly unseeing eyes. Pale moths and winged insects cover the expanse of her face and body, blending into her skin in places.

my sister recently found this out the hard way. on a self-checkout purchase of $280, she forgot to scan one $18 item. they illegally detained her, accused her of stealing every item she'd purchased. she wasn't allowed to leave until she signed a paper admitting to the theft, or they'd call the cops.
