2026 Locus Awards Top Ten Finalists Congratulations to all of the Locus Awards top ten finalists! These results are from the February 1 to April 1 voting by readers on an open public ballot. The Locus Awards winners will be announced…

Honestly really surprised to be a Locus award finalist in two different categories?! Best First Novel (for Song of Spores - initially they put it in Science Fiction, but then I think they realized it was my first) AND Best Editor?!

Congrats to the finalists!!

I really wasn't optimistic about Magyar, but this is great. More of this please.

Swalwell is out on the same day as Orbán is out. ☺️

Finally had a chance to listen to the speech and he really did say that - this is the most he's ever said on the topic, I think.

analogy for the America brained is like if the Dems lost to Trump four times in a row and then ran Mitt Romney to save the country and won crazy supermajorities and also Mitt Romney was named Johnny America

Curious to see how the Two Tailed Dog fared

Orbán lost decisively. That's great. Surprisingly, he has conceded. I do not trust Magyar, but an Orbán defeat is a cause for celebration

Hi all. I'm back from Passover (first bout) but not really around. Everything is super hard. Social media feels impossible to navigate right now. I have zero capacity. Sending good wishes.

for many years I haven't felt as invisible as I feel right now on this #TDOV

I'm not hiding - it's the general atmosphere, also here in KS

and even more painful is watching people forced back into the closet

If you're feeling invisible and/or erased right now I feel you - solidarity

Woah! In the last..hour? Yall didn't just reach my goal, but surpassed it significantly! Thank you again, for giving me resources& peace of mind for my emergency move. I won't forget the generosity my community has shown me, in this concrete& quantifiable way and many ways that confound measurement❤

Hi folks, our former student Aphid is just $285 away from goal. He needs the funds to relocate from Kansas to Colorado, where trans folk are safer. Please help and spread the word if you can!

thank you, I did not know about this and I am happy to learn about such systems. My strength is fundraising and just connecting people to other people.

I have worked and will continue to work with allies who are eager to help but do not know how to be matched with people in need, given *gestures* - so if this system ever comes to fruition lmk.

UPDATE: I received information that one person has been helped by the tcpipeline.org and www.translifeboat.org (one person, two orgs). I also understand that they are extremely overloaded right now.

I am glad to hear this regardless, please keep the info coming.

It's beyond dispiriting to ask for help in an hour of dire need and... nothing. 🫠

Direct mutual aid is the best when it is possible/available. I do need to say that some people do not have networks, do not know anyone who can boost a call for help, etc. - often these folks are most vulnerable, so if an org can help, that's A+! but not if you contact an org and hear nothing

LGBTQ Foundation of Kansas The LGBTQ+ Foundation of Kansas is committed to helping LGBTQ+ people in Kansas find resources, discover community, and thrive in their identities.

My list, which is QTd in the first post in this thread, has orgs actually helping trans folk in my state. I keep hearing this from many folks here - especially often lgbtqks.org

Once again, direct mutual aid is most effective right now. People are organizing off social media as well.

I'm not saying that no Kansan trans folk have been helped by relocation orgs - all I'm saying is that I don't personally know anyone (yet). I am in KS. I've seen lots of relocation orgs online saying they'd help and some fundraising - but I do not know anyone who's been helped.

As of today, I don't know any trans person in KS who received direct help from a relocation org. If you are such a person, I would appreciate hearing from you.

Lots of trans people in KS who are in need and/or trying to leave, rely on mutual aid and QT orgs operating in KS. List below.

Aphid is almost to goal - hope we can make one more push!

Well, someone at our local hospital refused to schedule our child for a non-urgent procedure on any day which wasn't Passover, and was very vehement about it - not on a different day, not in a different place, etc. I'm not a person to throw the word antisemitism around but I'm just stunned

Behold: the first-ever list of news outlets that have banned generative AI in their reporting. As of today, this is literally information that you cannot find on Google.

My goal is to fill the starter pack, so please send over suggestions with supporting evidence!

Aphid used to study with @bogiperson.bsky.social , we know him. He and his loved ones are trying to leave Kansas for a safer state. Any contribution to this fundraiser would be much appreciated. Please spread the word, and let's help Aphid relocate.

My dear former student Aphid is fundraising to leave Kansas and move to Colorado.

He is a 100% real trans person in Kansas, I personally know him and vouch for him.

You can make an immediate big difference in someone's life this way!! Please spread the word & contribute if you can!

thank you, I appreciate hearing this. I wish I knew where is safe, but I literally just heard from one of my students who is now in a friendlier state -- it is a relief.
