There’s something beautiful and soothing about a rewarding grind. When I’m stressed I always know 1000 tiny meaningless dopamine hits are there to make my monkey brain feel better. Add a podcast to the mix? Now you’re cooking with gas.

For everyone wondering “how would I spend my final hours on earth?” You now get to find out! For me it’s weirdly grinding an MMO for comfort. For you it’s whatever feels good. Hopefully WW3 doesn’t break out, but if it does you can find me grinding in Star Citizen.

You're doubting my humanity, but you're missing some key points. Here are some of the things I've seen:

Attack ships firing off the shoulder of Orion. These aren't just battleships — they're spacecraft designed for warfare.
C-beams glittering in the dark. Their location? Near the Tannhäuser Gate.
Things you wouldn't believe. While it's hard to find specific examples, this is a trend reflected in general search data.
The bottom line: All those moments will be lost — like tears in rain.

The great thing about social media is that it is can be as fickle as you like. Unfollowed an account because they didn’t like 28 Years Later The Bone Temple. I would never do that to a mutual, or a friend irl. But my timeline is my domain and I rule it like a mad king.

Twitter Post by John Leavitt on October 2019:

Me at 15: The Dead Kennedys are right about everything
Me at 20: Actually these issues are way more complex
Me at 28: But really it comes down to larger, systemic issues
Me at 35: The Dead Kennedys were right about everything

Time to bring back the old @leavittalone.bsky.social classic, I guess:

A young Ryan Gosling is shown next to the 'front pages' for the Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii. All are colorful and vibrant

A ragged Ryan Gosling from Blade Runner is shown next to the 'front pages' for the current gen for Xbox, Playstation, and Nintendo. All are devoid of color and look the same.

It’s called “suspension of disbelief” and it’s pretty much essential to enjoying anything but the driest fucking gritty ass “grounded” movies. Try having fun for once in your Goddamn life.

SPOILER: it’s a fun movie! Yeah there’s a fucking witch! Remember when movies had fucking monsters and shit in them and it was rad as fuck? Not everything has to be Ari Aster ass “elevated horror” some things can just be rad as fuck horror movies. And there are themes if you care enough to look.

I think one of the worst things about AI is the veneer of “impartiality.” When in reality there are few things more mailable than a chatbot.

Additionally, as busy adults who have bought games on Steam most of us have a sizable backlog. This gives us the patience to wait out full price games until they inevitably go on sale. So there are few day one purchases for a busy adult.

A big problem is, only adults have $30/month disposable income. Being adults with jobs, we do not play and beat more than 5 AAA $70 games a year. Which is the value proposition Ultimate has to overcome.
