So ... asking someone's name in #Latin. Which of these would you go for and why?
quid nomen tibi est?
quod nomen tibi est?
I am most interested in views on quid or quod but permutations on word order welcome too ... #AncientBluesky #language

Did a search for 'Latin language' on #Amazon (.com), sorted results by customer review and ... 'Basics of Biblical Greek' was in second place! What does this say about the standard of Latin language books??? π€· #Ad #AncientBluesky #Latinteach amzn.to/3Dh203n

Here's an interesting site with an 'online lemmatiser and morphological analyser' for #Latin texts. I wish I could change the dictionary used to lemmatise texts though, like you can for looking up words. Anyone know how? #Biblissima #Collatinus #AncientBluesky

Your pictures are gorgeous too! I didn't realise how far away you were. I think your season may be a bit later than ours. Thanks for spreading the joy here!
I think, for some of us, over-emphasis on grammar can hamper progress to experiencing Latin as a language to be understood without analysis or translation. This book is more or less unique in foregrounding and accelerating such an experience. I just wish there were more lovable characters!
Picture of variety of coloured dahlias in a rainbow shape.
Have you ever been to see the Dahlia 'rainbow' at Anglesey Abbey near Cambridge? Absolute hightlight of the flowering year for me! Picture can't really capture how lovely it is and this was just a bit later than at its best. The pano sadly turns the rainbow inside out too if you see what I mean ...
Started searching for other people posting about Latin dictionaries. Got as far as typing the 'c' in the search box and was quite surprised π³

Today I was using Logeion to look up macra (macrons?) for Latin words to help with my pronunciation. I mostly use the 'LaNe' dictionary and it is great for this even if you can't read Dutch (at least I think it's Dutch!) @logeiongklat.bsky.social #AncientBlueSky #Latin

Ah sadly it won't let me log in at the moment but will try again later. Thanks for the link!
I have a 1985 impression of this beatutifully illustrated Latin Peter Rabbit (trans. E. P. Walker) but this link is to a 1962 first edition. The cover title changed to 'Fabula de Petro Cuniculo' in 1985 which seems better to me. I wonder what else changed.
