As most of our educational programs are in the spring and fall, summer is usually a time we focus on providing continued education to our volunteers. This summer, though, our main focus is building new/improved bird enclosures. You can learn more & help us out on our GoFundMe. gofund.me/21661a29

It's spring fair season for us here at Raptor's Keep! We are happy to have just presented at the Guthrie Renaissance Festival. If you missed us, you can still catch our educational BOP programs at the Norman and Great Plains (Wichita) ren fairs.
We are currently in the spring breeding season for many birds , including Oklahoma's state raptor: the Red-tailed Hawk. These are one of the largest and most common hawks in North America and are the real voice behind Hollywood's "eagle scream." Pictured are our ambassadors: Hail and Thor.
yes. sorry about that. we are shifting to a new domain
If you would like to learn more about EEOs, the International Owl Center is hosting a live webinar on Sunday, Feb 2. You can register at this link www.tickettailor.com/events/inter...
As the name implies, Eurasian Eagle Owls are from Europe & Asia (& parts of Africa) making Zena our only non-American bird. They are one of the largest species of owls in the world & are related to the Great Horned Owl. One of the most famous EEOs of our time was an owl named Flaco from the NYC zoo.
Since this is a new platform for us, we're going to go ahead & introduce each of the birds currently in our care.
If you scroll down you can find a picture of Sebastian (GHO) & a mention of Zena (EEO) so next post will share more about Zena.
(The character limit here is a little restricting)
I love cardinal flower! Only seen it a few times in SE Oklahoma
How cool! Local artist made a shirt based on Zena, our Eurasian Eagle Owl 😍
Did you know great-horned owls are early nesters? They are especially active right now as this is their breeding season. If you are lucky you might see/hear one near you. Just don't get too close as they are fierce defenders of their nests.
Pictured is Sebastian, our resident GHO ambassador.
does the international owl center have an account on this platform that we can follow?
Over the years we've enjoyed the opportunity to bring live programs to schools, libraries, festivals & other events across Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas. We're excited to see those opportunities continue in this new year!
Hello! We're excited to launch our Bluesky account. We look forward to sharing information about birds of prey and conservation and to engaging with all of you.
