New post: Chinese EVs in Canada - Buyer beware!
(Yes, this is a bit clickbait-y)

A street with a sewer drain in the top left corner of water is running into it, but you can seen the rainbow sheen of gasoline running with it.
One thing that doesn’t get discussed enough about gas vehicles’ pollution is how poor maintenance affects the environment. Just this morning, I saw a truck that was spewing black smoke. Now, out front of my Son’s school is gas from a leaking car flowing into the sewer.

Update: The US Auto industry has retreated from EVs. That strategy will relegate them to the domestic market only or to extinction. The world is shifting to EVs. Global sales of fully internal combustion engine vehicles peaked in 2017. 🧪🔌💡☀️💨💧🔋 Paywalled link: www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

There are lots of amazing deals on used EVs too!
EVCO is EXTREMELY GRATEFUL to President Donald J. Trump for this absolutely TREMENDOUS GIFT to electric vehicle adoption. Oil prices LIKE NEVER SEEN BEFORE. Incredible. Stunning. THE BEST EV sales pitch anyone has ever seen. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER!

Right on cue, oil and gas prices are skyrocketing. It’s a good time to consider getting into an EV. Used prices are fantastic, and the rebates have returned for a lot of new models.

A headline from the magazine auto express. It reads “electric car batteries are lasting a lot longer than expected”.
My favourite headline of the day. I wonder who might have tried to imply they wouldn’t last very long. I mean, you know, which industry would benefit from everyone worrying about battery life?

Also, a reminder - No EV required! We love hosting anyone who is interested in EVs. Thinking of buying? It’s an awesome opportunity to talk to real owners, and we usually have a decent variety of EVs show up. We’re a passionate bunch, so don’t be surprised if you’re offered a ride!

Excellent news for consumer choice! Limited to 49,000 units/year at the moment, but hopefully this puts pressure on existing manufacturers.
Let’s hope @mark-carney.bsky.social returns from China with a focus on consumers - it’s time to lower the tariffs on their EVs. The Big 3 here aren’t interested in making affordable, competitive EVs. Trump also wants to kill our auto manufacturing. The writing is on the wall.
Stay safe!
If you need a charge during an outage:
- Check our Facebook group. Many people with power will offer their home chargers to anyone in need. If you do have power and would be willing to offer charging, please post!
- Check the PlugShare app. Many EV drivers will post the status of public chargers.
A few EV reminders if the power is out:
- Your EV may help! Some EVs, like the Ioniq 5, EV6, and pickups, have 110v outlets onboard to keep critical items powered. Check your manual if you’re not sure, and this is not an exhaustive list.
#Ottawa - Looks like a lot of freezing rain and wind are on the way tonight which will likely result in power outages around the region. A friendly reminder to charge up your devices, including your EV!

Electrification isn’t coming, it’s already here. With +17,000 EVs on Ottawa roads and a 40% increase in rooftop solar last year, energy demand is shifting fast.
