ICE has detained this high schooler for 10 months. Here’s what he and his classmates want you to know Dylan Lopez Contreras, a student at Ellis Prep academy, was taken by ICE in May. The Guardian invited him and five of his classmates to share their lives and dreams

"Seeing what one has to endure and how extremely difficult it is to get out of this “prison” (...) without being deported (...) many people end up requesting “self-deportation” just to avoid having to endure the psychological torture we are being put through."

New York high school student released after 10 months in ICE facility The detention of Dylan Lopez Contreras, 20, of Venezuela, a freshman in the Bronx, sparked national outrage

“Nothing can undo the injustice of denying Dylan even a modicum of due process, stealing his liberty and personal autonomy, and snatching away the precious time, education and experiences he’s been forced to miss for nearly a year of his young life,”

Stop the Gigification of Teaching!

Canadian universities depend in contract faculty with precarious and poorly paid conditions. This hurts students and limits the contribution academia makes to society.

Because some Canadians seem unaware, important info about ICE:

They have 5 field offices in Canada (Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal).

ICE have authority under 2016 Preclearance Act to detain people on Canadian soil in "preclearance areas" (e.g. airports & train stations).
