There are countless ways to handle transness in RPGs, especially fantasy ones. Somehow, being able to make your character pre op is the go-to. In the absence of substantial representation in the narrative, it’s an inadequate substitute for actual effort at best.

As a trans person, I am rather bothered that customizing private parts during character creation is being used as a shortcut towards appearing inclusive in RPGs. We want our private parts to stop being such a major focus when talking about us and this isn’t helping.

This game actually made me consider getting back into D&D. Also, Paladin/Warlock multiclass is delightfully gamebreaking.

BG3 Devs: “we need to be trans inclusive. How do we do that? I know, let’s make character customization include private parts. We’re totally helping trans gamers by emphasizing that part.”
