A very dumb and/or feline autistic cat - a small shorthair brown tabby with a white undercarriage that begins with a distinctive stripe down his face - looks up at me while being cradled in my arm. I had picked him up off the floor after he forgot he was on the mid level of my standing desk, tried to reach out to me, and fell to the floor after a mad scramble to hold on. As he does. He plummeted off the (not yet connected) scanner table yesterday. And also fell off the couch yesterday. As he does. He is currently eying the gap between a stool and the windowsill, ready to forget it exists spectacularly!

Someone has really been living up to his reputation as “that idiot who forgets where he is and falls off furniture.” Oh, Lula…

I didn’t catch him this time. But I got him on the first bounce! (He gave me no credit for that and got mad.)

If you think wearing a mask is “too hard”… you really won’t like living with chronic illness.

If you think people will judge you for taking precautions… you won’t like the treatment you receive when disabled.

Protect your health & the health of those around you.

Burchett is right: the most DC thing ever *is* a member of Congress blaming the city for something he and his colleagues did themselves.

“It’s actually even worse than that already unforgivably bad thing you said!” 🤓

Oh yeah, I’m BlueSky posting tonight!

(I’m sorry.)

My edgy conspiracy theory is that 40 years of promising young Dems smothered in the crib aligns too well with Reagan’s goons defeating the “liberal media.”

Blaming the weak Dems allowed to remain after media sabotage is fun and easy, but misses the more dangerous issue. It’s the editors, stupid.😘

Truth is behind paywalls, so only those who already understand see it. But journalists doing vital work NEED payment!

Lies are not just free, but omnipresent due to dark-money-fueled fronts!

(Why, yes, I DO have enough of a headache that I’m a dull buzzkill with my sincerity. How could you tell?)

On days when one can’t ignore how mainstream journalism must coddle its billionaire owners - y’know, the group causing most of our problems - my internal monologue turns to one extended primal scream.

Just another “studies show [obvious solve] works” report that gets angrily buried by the bosses.

i've seen "it would really stick it to the devs if we left bsky" posts & no it wouldn't. they want this web site to be boring crypto idiots who cool their phones off in pools chatting with AI reply bots. instead they have to put up with us and that's deeply funny

The three male cats of the house - the giant fluffy brothers of all-gray Big Dipper and brown tabby Pirate, and the tiny-framed brown tabby shorthair Lula - surround a triangular interactive cat toy as it squeaks endlessly while spinning a string around under a cloth that is a blue field with white stars, which simulates a mouse running under a sheet.

Behold this rare case of cats enjoying a toy more than the box it came in!

Makes the constant mouse squeaking sounds worth it.

(I had another model that could run on mute, but it was *stronger* too. Its motor was loud enough to spook my coward cats! Gave it to a friend, whose braver cat loved it!)

(But what can America say? Everyone is a 12yo edgelord bully here!)

((America, FUND COOL CARTOONS AGAIN! Japan sucks at it! Canceling/limiting everything good that’s animated, then erasing it from existence for fraudulent tax write offs is among America’s greatest of evils.))

Realizing that when music pops into my head, it’s now terrible anime songs. This is why going on hater’s quests is a bad idea, kids.

Japan has entered its Linkin Park/Evanescence era, cuz all Japanese people are 15yo superpowered monsters, which is significantly worse than the mindless bad jpop!

The orange kitten spent a long time wandering today - waiting until I wanted to leave to get wild. Black and white kitten also went for walks, but kept checking back in with mom like a good baby. Mom cat, however, was pinned down by the nursing gray tabby kitten, so the other two used that limitation to go wild!

Three kittens aggressively snuggling their mama, as she’s looking annoyed while keeping everyone safely contained in a cat cubby. The time of her having total control wrangling her babies is coming to a close. The age of exploration begins!

Saw some warning about posting photos, and I’m pinned down with a cat in my lap so I’m gonna try.

Ignore me if you see a wrecked post.

The black and white kitten pushes past an over it momma cat to leave the cubby and socialize with humans some more. The other kittens can be seen behind the black and white kitten. Orange tabby is looking to join the wandering, and gray tabby is asleep in the back corner.

We’ve already changed our minds to boy, got confused, then given up trying until they’re older.

It’s more that we *hoped* for a girl, as there’s a request for a B&W female in the system.

B&W is the dominant kitten so far. They’ve started playing with toys (if badly) and can walk out to greet us.

A look into the cubby where the momcat hides with her kittens. Both the gray tabby and the orange tabby have walked up to view their sister as she roams around after I stole her away via spatula.

Black kitten got spatula’d!

We think it’s a girl, so I’ll use those terms until a pro corrects me.

14.5oz at 3 weeks old, btw.

A defiant momcat, who does NOT want the rainbow ribbon toy all other cats love so much, protecting her babies from me. The black and white kitten is pinned to the wall behind her, with only a white foot and black leg exposed. The tabby clone kitten has poker her head and front legs out from under the mom, and the ginger disaster is next to tabby kitten but as an orange lump of undistinguished parts.

Da Momma got so mad over me spatula-ing her son, she pulled all the babies in towards her for the rest of my visit - and we got Lady Growls with tiny extra heads and limbs popping out from her body.

Pearl the gray shorthair cat, halfway into a lazy pose where she sleeps against a pillow like a person uses a pillow, and halfway into hyper play mode as she attacks the two braids of shoelaces next to her.

Pearl is back to her hair tie thing - tho an “I’m >10yo now!” lazier version. She wants me to give her a perfect throw for her to leap at.

I tried a bank shot off the wall, as that’s her signature wall jump move… but shot her in the face, and she ran off yelling.

I’m sorry!!!

A lady felt my "It's a JOKE" denials CONFIRMED I was a lying Deep State Agent, cuz "I saw other agents stalking me and they all had the same [generic hiking] shoes as you!"

And malpractice doc, who botched my scripts every time? He thought it meant I was PRO-Trump. Suddenly, he actually helped me!

I was once a dedicated viewer of Samantha Bee's show, and purchased a "Deep State letter jacket" hoodie, from the joke of it being an actual university.

"Go Deep State! Beat Electoral College!"🏈

Had to wait and hang back as momma ate her shunned-until-I-presented-it breakfast, while babies squirmed beside her.

My mission was then to spatula the black kitten for examination, but they jumped off the spatula and I got the ginger instead.

🙀😿😼

The diabolical fiends then nursed, blocking me!

Holding up the ginger kitten my mother is fostering, who is clearly a standard ginger-type disaster baby that will need extra attention.

Ginger kitten does a walk of shame back to the cubby where momma and his two siblings are… and somehow messes it up, turning the walk into more of an oozing. Gingers gonna ginger.

As I posted, my neighbor’s family pulled up to unload something and blocked my way out, so I suddenly have time to post the ginger kitten again and complete the set.

It’s dangerous to go alone. Take this!

(Black and white kitten being held in both my hands as it yells at me, in a pic taken by my mother.)

((Note: If I remember how to convert Live Photos to video, this one would be great. The yell is adorable!))

((Yes, I also have shots of the ginger kitten being held, but posting works best with two vertical pictures. And I think I shared these already anyway.))

Is there any chance the momcat will be chilling away from her babies when I visit her? Everyone else got kitten pet times! My only time required stealing them with a spatula, and only when my mother was there to claim credit instead of me!

I was (inexplicably) the best pickleball player in high school (‘96) despite being a scrawny nothing. Had the honor of causing my gym teacher to have a breakdown in front of everyone after I thrashed him repeatedly!

So I retired on top, wasting my chance for old man ball. 🥲

In grim ways I'm glad disability took my chance to be an active cartoonist in this awful era.

I totally had a story where Suzette (the cybercrimer of the cast) took over the Girl Scouts and launched a "cookie token" scam where folks "sponsored" scouts, who'd eat cookies instead of delivering them.

You do NOT wanna know how far into sketching I was when I realized I never got my scanner/PS7 set up for my new PC, so all had to work from the page. (First work in a new sketchbook, btw!)

Maybe I should’ve used BlueSky sketch Kevin instead of a caption, but iPhone edits would’ve wrecked him. Alas!

Drawings of Thomas K. Dye’s Kevin J. Dog, from his comic Newshounds and various other endeavors - for Kevin is also Thomas’ avatar - throughout the years. Most Kevins look confused, with one gloved hand raised towards their chin, as they utter, “What?” This is because I only ended up finding 8 distinct Kevins, when I was hoping for 9, so I had to put a happy birthday message and a joke about how he continues to evolve, but his core spirit remains the same. (The core of his soul being his bafflement at how dumb the universe is, with a side of “Chrispy, did you really think this was a good joke?” And, no. I choked! Sorry!)

Various Newshounds print collections, covering decades of the work, which I flipped through to find all the various Kevins. Most, of course, came from the early stuff, when he and Thomas’ style was in flux, and he was being thrown into every project Thomas could think of, before Newshounds became his permanent home!

You’ve claimed victory over a baffling universe yet again!

Folks don’t need a special day to dive through then long comic history of Newshounds and Projection Edge, but it’s always nice to have an excuse!

First attempt with new settings… failed.

But I got some wild-eyed Pearl pics anyway.
