The black and white kitten is pinned to the wall behind her, with only a white foot and black leg exposed. The tabby clone kitten has poker her head and front legs out from under the mom, and the ginger disaster is next to tabby kitten but as an orange lump of undistinguished parts.

Da Momma got so mad over me spatula-ing her son, she pulled all the babies in towards her for the rest of my visit - and we got Lady Growls with tiny extra heads and limbs popping out from her body.

Pearl the gray shorthair cat, halfway into a lazy pose where she sleeps against a pillow like a person uses a pillow, and halfway into hyper play mode as she attacks the two braids of shoelaces next to her.

Pearl is back to her hair tie thing - tho an “I’m >10yo now!” lazier version. She wants me to give her a perfect throw for her to leap at.

I tried a bank shot off the wall, as that’s her signature wall jump move… but shot her in the face, and she ran off yelling.

Holding up the ginger kitten my mother is fostering, who is clearly a standard ginger-type disaster baby that will need extra attention.

Ginger kitten does a walk of shame back to the cubby where momma and his two siblings are… and somehow messes it up, turning the walk into more of an oozing. Gingers gonna ginger.

As I posted, my neighbor’s family pulled up to unload something and blocked my way out, so I suddenly have time to post the ginger kitten again and complete the set.

I was (inexplicably) the best pickleball player in high school (‘96) despite being a scrawny nothing. Had the honor of causing my gym teacher to have a breakdown in front of everyone after I thrashed him repeatedly!

Drawings of Thomas K. Dye’s Kevin J. Dog, from his comic Newshounds and various other endeavors - for Kevin is also Thomas’ avatar - throughout the years. Most Kevins look confused, with one gloved hand raised towards their chin, as they utter, “What?” This is because I only ended up finding 8 distinct Kevins, when I was hoping for 9, so I had to put a happy birthday message and a joke about how he continues to evolve, but his core spirit remains the same. (The core of his soul being his bafflement at how dumb the universe is, with a side of “Chrispy, did you really think this was a good joke?” And, no. I choked! Sorry!)

Various Newshounds print collections, covering decades of the work, which I flipped through to find all the various Kevins. Most, of course, came from the early stuff, when he and Thomas’ style was in flux, and he was being thrown into every project Thomas could think of, before Newshounds became his permanent home!

You don’t wanna know how hard it was to get reference photos of this tree shedding petals of fluffy pink blossoms. (I used to know what it was called, but I’m old and dumb now.) The phone felt trees in the distance lined up were close enough to being lines of distance text, so it’d switch focus to them instead. This also happened with the phone choosing background mulch over flowers I wanted to photograph. I had to trick the camera into focusing on the wide leaf to have a shot at the wilting bloom I wanted to capture for poignancy!

I have done further reading on the subject of my rant in that pic’s alt text, and maybe there IS a solution to the camera thinking some textured element in the background MIGHT be text, so it must focus on it no matter how much I fight back???

Apple, obvs, did not put the option in camera settings.

Aside from the blur, the camera also seems to have assumed I wanted a photograph of the trash can in the background at the edge of the frame. Whoever programmed the iPhone camera is probably the same team behind the new autocorrect “aggressively obtrusive and wrong” update. I’ll never forgive the programmers for making me lose so many great photo opportunities because the camera’s AI thought a window screen, a lampshade, corrugated cardboard, mulch, etc. - all in the background, while a clear central foreground object was there and obviously what I wanted to capture - was text, and the possibility to transcribe text overrides all manual adjustments (and common sense in general).

Welp, I have now somewhat figured out a way to have the camera app start with the flash on - tho only if it was on when I last used it.

Learned too late to capture the moment of Pirate deciding to burrow all the way into a pillowcase.

Almost all moms with newborns are fresh from the wild. I don't know if this one was from a colony or just spotted and trapped. I'm told she chills out when resting apart from the kittens, but don't cross her when she's on duty! She reacts well to treats, so we're hoping to win her oven post-weaning.

This toy does not have a mute option, so it goes squeak squeak squeak for a minimum of 5 minutes if stepped on! Longer if cats start playing. In this photo, the two youngest cats, tabby Quicksilver and creamsicle Ginkgo, are playing with the toy, which sits in the floor and simulates a mouse scurrying under cloth, as the evil (complimentary) house matriarch, the calico Cami, watches them.

A certain cat toy in my house was at the bottom of the stairs.

After covering her daughter’s eyes with her tail, a mom cat in a cubby lets loose an angry hiss, offended that a toy has been dangled in front of her.

(Note: When she lunged out of the cubby, she ended up accepting a treat from me instead - then resumed growling when finished.)

A momcat who’s a tabby with the tint of a calico/tortie to her coat, has wrapped her body and tail around her daughter. The other kittens are behind the mom in the cubby.

I’ve only had one office job, and it was to pretend to work for 8 hours as my boss billed the government for a “senior specialist.” My time cards were laughably fraudulent!

The cats did indeed get into the weapons. An archery set from a stepbrother’s adventure was left out, and kitties apparently decided to hurl arrows at each other. The two in the photo seem very proud of their actions.

We all know the recent autocorrect “update” is infuriating with its aggressive incompetence.

But when you factor in texting with a senior, things get apocalyptically bad!

Pearl decided to pick up her old game of playing catch with hair ties, including her signature wall jump, so now my arm hurts from firing dozens of ties, walking down the hall to collect them, and repeating the process many times - all while getting criticized by her if I didn’t aim them perfectly.

My BlueSky follows being cultivated to be full of creators and folks witty enough they can salvage a comments section on a SPORTS website ensures this place is a fun hang, but it does mean I'm wholly unprepared to look at Reddit and discover what the ACTUAL average online media literacy level is.
