Today I am thankful for coffee.

Dear outside weather,

I do not like being woken by extreme weather sirens. Even if it’s because the worst of the weather is the opposite end of the county, at least 30 miles away.
I will still not be able to go back to sleep.

I adore hanging out with our youth group, and I’m totally bummed that our spring break trip is over and life is back to normal.
That said, I am SO thankful for my bed right now.

Overheard on our college tour, after attempting to sleep on the bus as we drove over night:

“I think I only got about one hour of sleep. But I’ll drink coffee and have the true college experience.”

Due to a variety of reasons, it seems like Holy Week is one of my busiest weeks of the year for the past number of years….
I don’t even wanna tell you how long my to-do list is.

For some reason though, having my windows open and listening to the birds sing while I do it all makes it so much better!

And oof, ain’t that the truth.

It feels like no time at all, but also all the time in the world since I’ve had these boys on my screen.

It’s so good to be able to watch Vladdy and Ern-dawg and Barger and all the rest of them too tonight.

A week after my dear friend died of cancer, one of my favourite coworkers was diagnosed with cancer.
I currently have some choice words that I will not publish on the internet but have exclaimed many times in person.

The plan when I put the offer in on my house, was dinner with my dear friend on my deck, often. We started w/ takeout just an hour after I took possession of my house.
But then cancer had other plans.
I’m sad we never got to have those deck evenings or any more adventures.
I miss you already Laura.

There is nothing I love more than watching my two countries face each other on the pitch/ice/field… but it will always be #GoCanada #SheBelievesCup #watchwomenssports #canwnt

I spent the evening with a friend in hospice.
It’s the last place we wanted to be… nothing is fair or ok.
But it was still such a sacred and sweet time and I am so thankful for it.

My algorithm on other social medias is showing me one thing: hockey.
Amazing 🇨🇦 players.
Dumb 🇺🇸 players.
Fictional players.
Then last night I dreamed I was dating a semi-pro player.
It might make me a bad Canadian, but I’m so ready to stop thinking about hockey for a minute.

Now that I’ve been gone for 7+ years, I totally hear the “Canadian accent” and I’m not sure there’s much I enjoyed more over the last week than listening to Canadian hockey players in interviews say “about”
It warms my heart so much and i really hope that I still have my Canadian accent too!

I have just done all sorts of administrative tasks my adhd brain has been putting off for far too long…
And I’m proud of myself
And I’m also annoyed because I was hoping they’d just take 5 minutes and instead took like 2 hours.

I’ll give props to Hellebuyck - he played a phenomenal game and deserves that gold medal.

Everything else though? 💔

Is it too much to ask for another 2010-Crosby thing?

I’m pretty sure the only talking point these commentators have is that Crosby isn’t in this game.
I think we all know this now after you mention it every three minutes.

I’m regretting choosing caffeinated coffee this morning.
I should have known better.

I’m either out of the house with work/other responsibilities or I’m at home on the couch watching incredible Olympics.

It will get cleaned again some day.

ITS FINALLY HOCKEY TIME

This summer we took our youth group to a luge park and got the opportunity to do a run of wheel luge.

It was so fun and now I am so appreciating these luge athletes that much more!

I feel I need to make my opinion known, after receiving texts from two American friends at the exact same time.
One said “we LOVE the maple coats!”
The other said “I really don’t like Canada’s outfit.”

I….. I love it so much. It’s not a normal coat like so many other countries.
I love the giant 🍁
