This is the most basic and probably obvious advice but if you happen to be a Mac user, I found swapping to Keynote meant my utilitarian basic slides immediately looked a bit less terrible and took a bit less time to make not-ugly.

Sure but a car or a jet can already go way faster than that so who cares?

Almost missed the 3rd anniversary of The Videogame Industry Does Not Exist being published but thankfully social media reminded us of the cake @hmberents.bsky.social made to celebrate its launch.

Dozens of cops arrested peaceful protesters who said a prohibited phrase in the course of legitimate political speech. Incredibly fucked, but unsurprising - the enforcers of genocidal settler-colonies stick together

Get out there tomorrow, King George Square, 1pm, for a march on Parliament House 🍉

Really don’t think the executives actually make any real creative decisions. Just whether or not actual developers are allowed to make those creative decisions.

Yes but I’m talking about the gender imbalance on the developer side, which is literally where the ‘dadification of games’ discourse comes from

I would not have my job without 2ser - they also gave me my first paying job in radio. Every day I learn of another alumnus from the station doing incredible things. This is truly heart-breaking.

The reason there are a lot of dad games and not many mum games is because ’dad game’ refers to the historic gender imbalance of the game industry and the aging sensibilities of the generations with the highest gender imbalance.

The point of the university as a concept is that it's been here for a thousand years and meant to be here another thousand. Turning education over to producing what the market needed five years ago is never going to work well.

I just want to make sure you understand that in this thread you have been exactly the kind of pedant who is unable to figure out their own context to a social media post that people hate to encounter on this site.

Go find an expert on Japanese political economy if you wish. Maybe someone who can guide you in talking to ppl on social media as well! My guess would be the rate of profit in Jpn allows for a lower composition of capital. Or maybe other social factors exist and capital doesn’t operate in a vacuum

I think nearly every ‘Japan is so great’ cliche can be boiled down to the fact that every business/service hires many more than the bare minimum number of workers possible.

In the current university organisational structure, I mean. Once we reorganize them into democratic worker-led institutions then that’s okay
