To add to this, all creative works are derivative to a degree, but even the most banal works are somewhat shaped by the artist's unique experiences.

In short, I'm against AI, because its downsides heavily outweigh its debatable benefits
Regarding the cost of goods and services:
This will probably sound banal, but have you not looked at the cost of PC component prices? Especially the cost of RAM has basically quadrupled since last october due to AI data centers.
AI's also contributed to the increased cost of electricity.
Regarding the environmentalist aspect:
While the power consumption of a singular prompt to these prompts takes very little energy, training them requires huge amounts of power, of which a lot is still sadly generated with fossil fuels.
In addition to that, AI datacenters generate a ton of e-waste
As a creative person, surely the "aesthetics" of AI "art" should be the least of your concern when it's actively hurting creative folks' ability to make a living.
The issues with generative AI in its current state won't magically get fixed if we pretend like there's an ethical way to run it under capitalism.
The proper realization of ethical AI would likely require a systematic revolution that's unlikely to happen in our lifetimes.
It is insulting that AI generated Imagery is even referred to as "art" when art is something that's inherently creative.
It is doubly insulting that one of the excuses for its use is "making art accessible", completely ignoring all of the disabled artists through the ages.
The reason I completely denounce generative AI are its negative effects it's had on both the job market, environment and the cost of various goods and services. Also not a fan of how the authors of the works used as training data are seldom fairly compensated or even asked for permission.
