decided to watch @thegreatjaxie.bsky.social's series "LINERS" again because i was bored and the post credits scene(?) in EP4 has made me go into a rant that rivals the shit you see on conspiracy theory forum boards

Of course with WW2 starting off she'd be put into military service, who knows? Maybe she has several escapades during the Pacific Theatre making her very well known amongst ships around that area

Of course she cant run back to the UK otherwise she'll be cut up instantly, so she has to make a quick decision, after some time out at sea. She finally decides to make a run for Australia, a clever plan on her part, nobody would suspect she'd be down there! and the white star line DID operate down-

-thans crew (or what remains of them) are found in the waters, and without Olympic in sight they also assume she must've sunk as well, but unbeknownst to them, Olympic is running as fast as she can towards any port that would let her in, ...somehow without a crew but lets ignore that

the way I see it, while leviathan and Olympic were headed for their scrapyards, they were caught in a storm, we obviously dont know how strong it was, but it had to have been strong enough for leviathan to sink, and possibly for olympic to be damaged, ofc by the time the storm calms down only levia-

-these ships to sink in the EXACT SAME YEAR and while they were BOTH headed for the scrapyard, now this is where the really insane stuff starts so buckle your seatbelts.

-what were focusing on. What we ARE focusing on is the passing comment made by aquitania near the end of the episode where she mentions that leviathan ALSO sunk in 1939 while on her way to the scrapyard. Now, this might just be me being dumb but in my eyes this is a bit TOO coincidental for BOTH of-

(SPOILERS AHEAD FOR ANYONE WHO HASNT SEEN LINERS AT ALL!!) in EP4 we get introduced to leviathan, a former german liner brought by USL and withdrawn because there simply isnt enough money to run her and eventually gets reunited with her old friend, the rest of the story is pretty solid but thats not

- 1939, which doesnt line up with our actual timeline but again this isnt exactly surprising, and if this was the only info we got of olympics fate id just consider a piece of tragic information, if it werent for episode 4.

Now of course in EP2 they mention the story of Titanic, obviously, but in short 2 after aquitania convinces Titanics ghost go move on she talks to herself and tries to rationalize how Titanic couldn't find Olympic in the afterlife, eventually mentioning that she sunk on her way to the scrapyard in-

this of course brings us (eventually) to EP2, Short 2 and EP4 which are the only reasons this thread even exists in the first place

and (again) ships like aquitania not being scrapped in 1950

throughout this series we can very much tell there are several differences between the LINERS timeline, and our OWN timeline, notably stuff like normandie not dying in 1942

(for context for anyone thats stumbling on my insane ramblings, LINERS is a series made by Jackie West, and is basically just tugs if it focused on Ocean Liners instead of, well, tugs.)
