Merlin recognised a mute swan for me from its wing beats, which was nice.
We do hear grey herons quite often - loud screech. But yesterday's bird of the day was a gannet, and I assume I'd have to be right in their colony to hear them.
It's the neighbours I worry for.

For what? It's ridiculous as a family car. Also hideously unreliable and a potential money pit. A friend lost thousands on a 2017 model with a string of major faults while the Ford dealer just tried replacing more and more parts. In the end it was basically scrap.

For me, the whiff of wild garlic in the woods is one of the surest signs of spring. And it's lovely in a risotto.
It must be the day for it. I just replaced the lower hinge of a garden gate after it became loose. Used the Big Drill (TM) on the stone wall and resin to hold the hinge in place. That's not going anywhere.
