What's your Teacher Persona? Mine is spot on! Thanks @teacher2teacher.bsky.social for this fun activity.
Find yours here: teacherpersona.teacher2teacher.education//?code=t2t-B...
From the Sec of Ed confusing “AI” with “A1” (Yes, like the 🥩 sauce) ➡️ ICE Barbie pointing a possibly loaded rifle toward an ICE agent’s head for a photo op ➡️ 🐧 becoming part of a potential trade war…
The most normal headline I’ve seen today is from @theonion.com
Y’all seriously tho, #wtfmate?
😂😭🤦🏼♀️

Awesome! If I can help in any way with it, just send me a DM and we'll connect!
Screencastify Submit is free and a great tool to use for student self-reflections as well!
It wasn't a big space. Just a corner with a bean bag chair and a area rug.
However, I have sent plenty of students on "fake" errands to another teacher with a note that said, "they just need some time/space" to give them space and time to breathe!
Thank you! Because sometimes it could be that they're over stimulated or just overly excited, not necessarily mad or angry. "Zen Zone" works for all feelings!
I definitely will!
A7: I love this exit ticket I found online! It can easily be made digital with a Google Form or printed as is. (Exit Ticket: Connect. Design. Learn.)

That's my favorite T Swift song!
It's so wonderful that you've created a safe space for them to be vulnerable!
A6: I had a “Zen Zone” in my classroom to support students when they needed a place to find their center again. (I never got with "Calming Corner" because telling someone to "calm down" rarely works!😂)
Check out my suggested rules for a zen space:

Thank you!
Definitely! Especially if you take the time to add some of that into your lessons!
Here's the usual favorite rap parody of mine: youtu.be/JGYlmS4sYco?...
A5: I find a day to invite them to have lunch with me, just us. I let them lead the conversation & chime in where appropriate. Going that extra mile has always helped build a stronger connection!

Usually we talk about how our brain is a muscle that we have to train to become stronger or how challenges are like climbing a mountain (we usually talk about this one after a trip to climb Stone Mountain outside of Atlanta).
I make really bad educational rap parodies and post them on my YouTube channel and my students love it!
A4: A Growth Mindset, respect, tolerance, making mistakes, and lots & lots of LOVE! Here are some tips on teaching Growth Mindset:

Love it! When I taught Sp. Ed. reading, my kids would make digital picture books and record themselves reading their book. We would share our books with the lower grades reading classes! Screencastify just featured it on their blog: www.screencastify.com/blog/bringin...
This is so cool! Way to bring art to life @fuglefun.bsky.social!
A3: Fostering a Growth Mindset from day 1 is crucial for helping students overcome challenges in my classroom. Here are some specific things I do with my special needs students to help them over the hump:

Thank you! I had that sign in my room right next to my desk so any student who came into my room would know that they could always come back if they needed anything.
AR makes everything better!
I get the best answers from that question- from dinosaurs to gaming to designing clothes....they really love to share that special thing about themselves!
A2: From minute 1 of day 1, I do my best to show my students that I respect them, am a safe person, and my classroom is a safe space. Over the years, I have had several students come out to me, reach out for help, and more. That is more important to me than any test score.

I like this! I worked in one of the roughest areas of Atlanta, GA and a lot of my students didn't "see" a future for themselves. Do you find that this question helps them visualize a positive future life?
That's such a great idea!
