“The Virginia Supreme Court overruled two previous orders from the circuit court to block the referendum vote.”
This same circuit court has now declared the referendum unconstitutional for the third time, and thrown out the entire election yesterday as invalid and void.

This is your periodic reminder that Democrats introduced legislation in 2021 to ban gerrymandering nationwide and every republican voted against it except two who were absent.
We know. 😭
There are literally instructions explicitly forbidding triers of fact from using their own knowledge or doing their own research to decide issues. They must rely exclusively on the evidence actually presented in court.
Calling this opinion “batshit” is an insult not only to bats but also to guano.

Also worth mentioning that California and Virginia both passed *conditional* redistricting, which happens only if another state does it first. And that both California and Virginia made the redistricting authority *temporary*, expiring with the next census. Texas (and Florida) did neither of these.
“He added that a liberal version of Emily Hart failed to take off.”
Yes, but it’s so much easier to attack anyone who tries to fact-check something you like with, “Oh, so you support rape groups?” 😡
“Justice” Thomas made this exact argument in his dissent in Elk Grove Unified School Dist. v. Newdow (2014). The Fifth Circuit is now giving him and his fellow ultra-conservatives on SCOTUS an opportunity to make it binding law.

Signal boost for Maryland
IMPORTANT: Virginia did not just vote to draw new districts.
It voted to give the Legislature the power to redraw districts before 2031 if, and *only* if, another state does it first.

Really happy to have done a very small thing to help make the Supreme Court's historical records and briefs freely available. Thank you to the @archive.org for doing the hard part. blog.archive.org/2026/04/20/u...
The Onion plans to turn Infowars into a comedy site with satirical echoes of the fringe conspiracy theories that Mr. Jones is known for. Tim Heidecker, one of the comedians behind “Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!” on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim, has been hired to serve as “creative director of Infowars.” He said he initially plans to parody Mr. Jones’s “whole modus operandi.” Mr. Heidecker has been working on his impression of Mr. Jones. But eventually, when that joke gets old, Mr. Heidecker said that he hoped to turn Infowars into a destination for independent and experimental comedy. “I just thought it would be just a beautiful joke if we could take this pretty toxic, negative, destructive force of Infowars and rebrand it as this beautiful place for our creativity,” Mr. Heidecker said in an interview. During a recent trip to Philadelphia, he traveled to the Liberty Bell to film a video in character as the new creative director of Infowars.
Get excited.

To my immense disappointment, it has turned out to be a genuine billboard advertisement for a genuine marijuana delivery service, just branded with the iconic characters.
Sigh.

He restated that they wouldn't be delivering anything until 4/20 (ha ha), and suggested that I might also visit their web site. So I figured the site was the actual rabbit hole, and I'd explore it and maybe call back once I knew what to say.
Here's the site: www.jayandsilentbobdeliver.com

I got a live person.
Instantly became excited. Could this be... a mini-ARG? Would the advertising have been that creative? Certainly possible. I interacted with the gentleman on the phone, pretending I was asking about their delivery area. (It included mine; the number had a local area code.)

Saw a billboard for "Jay and Silent Bob Deliver" this weekend, and figured it was a clever advertisement for some new movie set to open on 4/20 (ha ha). In addition to a website, the billboard also had a phone number. I called it, expecting some prerecorded message from either or both of them.

The Biggest Loser: “Iran recently announced that they were closing the Strait, which is strange, because our BLOCKADE has already closed it. They’re helping us…”
Funny, that’s almost exactly what Iran said when you announced that you were blockading the Strait.
Can we put up a sign at that golden escalator saying, “Death place of the Republican Party”? Or do we have to hunt down Karl Rove’s old office or something?
To be fair, that’s the most honest answer we’ve ever gotten from anyone in his administration.
