One of my favorite books. I loved the whole trilogy. Seemed a little edgier than The Little Princess—which also has an orphanage and a mean headmistress.
He also writes books for middle school aged kids and they are just as good as the ones for adults. My son and I used to swap them back and forth.
You might want to read it in the future, I agree that it might be too dark for you to read right now. If you are looking for something silly and entertaining I liked Squeeze Me by Carl Hiaasen. Heartwood by Amity Gage was beautifully written. Abby Jimenez’s romances are fun and quick.
I loved the book and I know it’s fiction. But certain scenes in the camp in Oklahoma were very close to reality. It’s almost like you you time traveled into the future.
I do need a break! I’m so tired. I’m treasurer of the Greater Raleigh Jewish Federation. I was told it was 1-2 hours a month and it’s closer to 8 hours/month. I’m feeling ok, just tired and I have doc appt today, a fundraising walk tomorrow, dinner with my brother &SIL Sat nite. 🤷🏻♀️
Absolutely. I read a book called
The Displacements about a Category 6 hurricane hitting S Florida. It’s fiction (for now).
Then I went food shopping and rested. Today I have zoom meeting at 9 am for the same volunteer position and have a rheumatologist appointment this afternoon. So not really resting but not touching tax stuff either. 🤷🏻♀️
Sort of. I had a volunteer meeting Wednesday night that was from 7-10:30(!). On Thur I woke up to a VERY accusatory email because I didn’t give a client an estimate for his extension. He never sent any of his gazillion brokerage 1099s so as soon as I said that he apologized profusely. 1/2
@bruceholsinger.bsky.social you see this?
Glad you got some time off.
The predecessor to NASCAR was moonshiners driving fast cars to avoid the sheriff or highway patrol. www.history.com/articles/how...
And Prohibition made NASCAR possible. Which is sponsored by alcohol companies. Truly a full circle moment
Probably have to complain to the manager.
Tax deadline is tomorrow. Please be gentle with your tax pro. We are very, very tired. And if you’re getting an extension please know that it’s not a red flag to the IRS.
That looks yummy!
Using spreadsheets, Tax Dome workflow and color coding on the client status manager page. Tax return filed and accepted is green. Extension filed and accepted is lavender. Still figuring out what to do is black.
It’s the “questioning all my life choices” holiday for all who celebrate.
It’s Sunday at 7:00 am and I only have 5 more extensions!! Tomorrow I’m going to confirm that everything has been accepted and then I’ll review everything to make sure I haven’t missed anyone. Last year I forgot to file an extension for an S-corp with 2 shareholders 😥.
How did it go? It’s hard having people in your living space.
It’s the third book in a trilogy written by Abby Jimenez. It’s got comedy but also hits on heavy topics like child abuse and abandonment and mental illness. Book is “Just for the Summer.”
Clients are now getting weird letters. Please file your 2024 tax return, it was filed and accepted 3/26/25. Please provide your direct deposit information when client owes taxes.
My son read it and loved it. I’m listening to a rom-com book I read last year. I generally prefer mystery and thrillers but…anxiety. 🤷🏻♀️
Soup looks yummy! What did you read?
I spoke to my daughter today which was lovely.
Me too. I would love to have a week where I don’t think about the government.
Or when employers classify employees as independent contractors so they don’t have to pay FICA taxes. My former employer (a CPA) did exactly that. I *might* have reported her to the state DOL. Who then got the IRS involved 🤭
Just heard a British journalist on You Tube say that Britain’s last shipment of jet fuel is through the Straits. And then they’ll run out. Then what?
At this point nothing surprises me.
I love your invisible cat!
I loved that movie! My friends and I used to watch it on VHS tapes.
