I had 4 days off and by the end of that time I was thinking about creative pursuits, maybe even getting involved in my community. Thank god that's over now

Iโ€™m sick of the Louvre gatekeeping access to great works of art. They should let you borrow the Mona Lisa for the weekend

similar story with my family's puggle. she'd been returned before we got her, and within 5 minutes of us taking her home, she was on the counter eating cheese and crackers. she's 15 now, but still (almost) as much of a hellfire. this picture is from when my mom would take her to school on Halloween

when i told him no, just research and teaching, he said "ah, so you'll just be a cog in the machine." i reminded him that we live in a socially constructed world, so everyone is a cog on some level. evidently that was the wrong answer ๐Ÿ˜‚

reminded this morning of a conversation i had with my uncle when i was applying for grad schools. i told him i wanted to do media and relationship research and he asked if that meant i was going to become a couples counselor...

i also really enjoy making art when i have the creative energy to do so. i've dabbled in fiber arts, but mostly i do abstract work and stylized self-portraits

in the spirit of academics being people outside their work, here are a few introductory things about me:

>i love alternative music
>i would die for my cats
>i'm a big nerd--specifically for star wars and pokemon
>i think there are few (if any) words that can match the expressive power of "fuck"

Democratic messaging sought to convey Republicans as a monolith. But there are real personal and policy wedges to be exploited within the Trump coalition.

Seek them out. Make them fight each other.

One more thought on "bad" art, at the risk of sounding pretentious:

The point of art is to create and express something. Technical skills (anatomy, perspective, etc) are good, but only insofar as they serve that goal. What gives art its value is the impression it makes, not the artist's skill.
