Hopefully, Spurs will be relegated by then, and theyโll ease off.
Our last four league goals across our last three games have come from two goalkeeper errors, a penalty, and an open goal tap in when their keeper went up for a late corner. Says a lot about where our attack is right now.
Last season, Chelsea Women did the treble, but Arsenal Women won the UWCL and came second in the league.
Just thought Iโd leave that thereโฆ
That being said, with all the comments about โbottlesโ, if Man City do blow it from here, the comments will be very interestingโฆ
Historical comparisons of past clutch matches, this feels akin to the 2-1 at Old Trafford in 2008, where Arsenal gave it their all, but simply could not get the result, and a it was a defeat that sealed their fate. If Man City play like they have done in past title races, the same will happen again.
Agreed. We turned up today. We didnโt turn up in too many games post-Christmas. And this is the result.
I think right now, itโs all in on the Champions League. If we can get players back fit, and rediscover our form, maybe there is a chance we can get one over Atletico Madrid. And if we can reach a UCL final, that might just take the edge off whatever trauma unfolds in the Premier League.
My big concern post-League Cup Final wasnโt the fact weโd missed out on a trophy, but how it would impact our form. Since then, weโve suffered three 2-1 defeats in the domestic matches, gone out of the FA Cup and seen our lead evaporate. Itโs a collapse weโve all seen before.
The only way we win the league from here is if we go perfect (unlikely) and Man City slip up in their remaining fixtures (also unlikely). And we only have ourselves to blame. It was there for us this season, and we saw that today. Arsenal showed they could win the league. Man City proved they will.
We came into this game needing a result, against a team weโve not won away at in over 10 years, determined to chase us down once again. For all the fight and effort shown, it was only ever going to go one way.
Our slow, post-Christmas malaise, dropping points where we never should have done, opened the back door for Man City and they have capitalised. One off results are understandable, but itโs been a trend that has ultimately cost us the season.
I expected us to lose, and we did, but I thought the players played and fought well. Unfortunately, it was too little, too late. You canโt raise your level for Man City away, and not for Wolves away or Bournemouth at home. We needed to arrive here knowing the result didnโt matter. Instead, it did.
The fickle, fine margins of football. Another day, Havertz scores again. Another day, Ezeโs shot spins into the net, rather than across the line. But instead, its Haaland, its Man City, its three points to them and thatโs probably the league title to them once again.
And of course, in the League Cup Final, we saw them overpower us in the second half after weโd done well to manage them in the first 45. What happens this time will define the entire season.
I donโt think we have enough bite in attack to get a second goal (our goal was ultimately a complete gift). I can see the game regressing into us being in a deep block against their sustained pressure, holding out for a draw.
Level at halftime, great courage shown by the team to get the rapid equaliser. But I canโt help feeling that this Man City side has more gears to go up through. We saw what happened at Chelsea in the second half there.
Good luck everyone.
I donโt want to see another tame surrender. The title hangs in the balance today. I want us to leave everything out on that pitch. Not disappear into nothing like we did against Bournemouth. Have no regrets, no doubts. Play to our maximum, and without fear. And ultimately, prove me wrong.
What I do hope to see today, regardless of the result, is us give Man City a real fight. Make them work for their win. We didnโt turn up in the League Cup Final, and we got pummelled 4-1 a few seasons back which essentially gifted them the title.
I fully expect us to lose today. Man City are in form. We are not. It would be an unbelievable reversal of fortune if we were to come away from here with a win (a place we have not won at since 2015). And if we were to lose it, thatโs probably the title dream over, sadly.
Forest and West Ham, over to you. Serve your league ๐ซก
Make it doubbbbbbllllleeeee!!!
Xavi went full Richarlison. Never go full Richarlison.
I swear, Spurs are the joke that keeps on giving. The moment Xavi โRicharlisonโedโ by taking his top off after scoring, you just knew Brighton would score eventually. But for Spurs to concede in that manner, and that late on? Calamitous.
